Land-dwelling pokemon can visit underwater settlements with the use of aerated seaweed that grows within certain Mystery Dungeons. This seaweed, when woven into a mask to cover breathing orifices, filters water and oxygen not unlike gills in fish pokemon. Some describe the sensation of breathing through this as strange.
