Moxie was adopted by her father (the previous owner of Marowak Dojo) when she was orphaned by her biological parents at a very young age. He passed away some years after Inigo was born, but Moxie lovingly carries on the Dojo in his memory. She has a soft spot for children as a result of her upbringing, and wishes to make her father proud by taking in and looking after any children who don't have parents, have an unstable home life, or otherwise enjoy her company.

Inigo always enjoyed his grandfather's stories, especially ones that involved battling, and idolizes his combat skills. Inigo had only managed to defeat him once, though he speculates it's only because old pops went easy on him.
