A second backstage pass this week since I didn't have time to post one last week!

A good hook for a story is vital for grabbing an audience. It's the first time someone sees your work, and can leave a lasting impression that lasts for a long time afterwards. You really only get one shot at one, so you better make it count. Part of working on the Chapter 1 facelift for OBT was finding a good hook, since I pretty much completely lacked one for the longest time. Without hooking people in to find investment in the story, there's not much reason for them to hang on and see what's in store later. With that in mind, finding a balance between accidentally spoiling everything and giving enough away to create intrigue can be hard to strike. I hope that the added prologue will serve as a good hook, though I still am relying on the rest of Chapter 1's facelift to build investment in the characters themselves. I've done what I can to cultivate interest in the plot, so now I need to cultivate interest in the characters! And honestly, I'm really excited for the opportunity to explore them!
