Explorer-grade Treasure Bags carry a high market value of 800,000 poké (or $8000 USD) for one very important reason; they are made with Hoopa gold, a very valuable and expensive material capable of creating pocket dimensions when it forms a ring. The size of the dimension varies depending on how much gold is used. The Exploration Federation will upgrade bags that are sent in after a team goes up in rank (for a small fee, of course), with lower-end bags being able to carry 16 items, and upgraded bags being able to carry up to 96. Some speculate that the sheer cost of these bags is the reason the Federation is so picky with who it recruits into Exploration Teams.

While these bags could, in theory, hold a pokemon, it generally isn't encouraged as once you're in the dimension, you need someone to pull you out of it. Many missing explorers are found in such embarrassing scenarios after hiding in their bag to avoid danger. Others remain missing forever as their bag may have been destroyed, completely erasing the dimension from existence.
