Avatar: The Way of Water is the most financially successful movie of any film that was released in 2022. It currently has a 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, is widely beloved, and continues to do big business week after week in theaters. James Cameron has already said the film's performance means he's going to have the support he needs to make who-knows-how-many sequels.

If you follow my work, you probably are aware that I'm not a big fan of the film. Beyond the fact that it's an unengaging slog, I also found it to be problematic in the same ways that the first film was.

So before we move on to the next big thing in pop culture, I wanted to take a minute and have a SPOILER-FILLED conversation that articulated some of my bigger issues with the movie. In this bonus audio discussing the film, I am joined by Walter Chaw from Film Freak Central to discuss what we liked about Avatar: The Way of Water and what didn't work quite as well for us.

I'm planning to release this as a YouTube video but am making it available early and as a podcast for Patrons. Thanks as always for your support and I hope you find this type of conversation valuable, even if you don't agree with it.

At the end of the day, I think we can all agree: it’s impressive that Dave found someone else who doesn’t like Avatar TWOW
