Setting aside for the moment whether this is the right episode at the right time (I reserve that judgment till I see the next three), this episode displayed a trait of Jimmy’s that I only noticed recently. This is probably old news to more observant viewers, but I’ve really come to appreciate how Jimmy consistently uses his mark’s own greed and arrogance against them. Yes, he’s a conman, and he’s done terrible things that deserve consequences in a morally upright universe. But time and again, his greatest skill is simply opening a door that only the immoral choose to walk through. It would be so easy for these marks to avoid the scam, and in almost all cases, they would’ve walked away without a scratch if *they* simply turned down the opportunity for a quick, easy, and unscrupulous buck. I’m not saying Jimmy is a hero. But you put him next to Walt, who by contrast could be a genuine weasel, or Gus who is most adept at using terror and brute force against his targets, and I don’t think Jimmy is on the same moral playing field as these unquestionable villains.

Same. I wonder how many viewers craved Cinnabon after watching that episode? Say she who just picked up a cinnamon roll at McDonald’s…
