Like many children of the 80s and 90s, this week I tuned into the West Wing's HBO Max Reunion Special - a filmed, staged recreation of the episode "Hartfield's Landing." I'll be discussing more about it on this week's episode of the /Filmcast but in the meantime, I want to recount an interesting experience I had with it.

I thought the new cover of the theme song was gorgeous and powerful, so I invited @joyofnapping to watch it with me (she has virtually no exposure to The West Wing at all). You can hear most of it right here. She started weeping almost immediately. Later on, when I showed it to her again, she also wept.

I asked @joyofnapping about why she was so moved by this theme song from this 90s TV show that she had no particular attachment to. I really loved her answer so I filmed it and am bringing it to you now as a Patreon exclusive.

I hope you appreciate her response. Thanks for your support and for making this Patreon possible.

Be well. Be safe. Vote.

What a wonderful post... this type of response is becoming common from what I see/hear. Thank you for sharing a vulnerable moment. Have a good weekend you two (and fellow supporters)... sending you a social distanced hug from a bunker in Wisconsin.

What you expressed here is so important. My daughter is a theatre major in her freshman year of college (she is also a huge West Wing fan). The fact that she can't practice her craft in the way she is accustomed and must find other means for her creativity and that of others to shine... it is a real challenge and I feel so much for her and everyone else, especially those in the dramatic arts. Your words mean a lot and they really hit home. Thank you!
