Hey folks,

David Chen here. For most of my life, I've been a big dude.

I've tried dieting, working out, lifting weights. But nothing has been enough to lose weight and keep it off.

A few years ago, the introduction of drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro offered a new path. These tirzepatide/semaglutides seemed like they could dramatically curtail one's hunger level, albeit with a lot of potential side effects. Nonetheless, I've been reading up on them and interested in exploring them as an option for myself.

My friend Scott is similar in height/weight to me and he recently started taking Zepbound. I decided to hop on a call with him to discuss his experience taking the drug. We discussed:

  • Why he's taking Zepbound

  • The cost of Zepbound (with insurance)

  • How much weight he's lost so far/the impact of Zepbound already

  • What side effects he's experienced

I know this is pretty different than the type of content I usually put out. One of the things I appreciate about this Patreon is the ability to explore different interest I have in a relatively safe space. My only goal is to provide the kind of frank and honest conversations that are difficult to find online.

I hope you find the episode interesting (and if you don't, feel free to let me know!). I don't anticipate this will be a huge part of the Patreon page, but I will probably check in with Scott 2-3 more times over the course of the next year. As always, your feedback and support and welcome and appreciated.

Just listened to the new Post Reports episode about this and find it to be very interesting sociologically. Adam Ragusea also had a thoughtful video pondering how this will change things. It's like the AI of body transformation - we are training ourselves to discern the difference and ascribe value judgments.
