Artwork Interest? (Demigod Tier) (Patreon)

There are three of these polls.

Everyone should have access to only one poll (this is needed so I don’t have 20+ options).

 

REASON FOR POLL:

Someone recently asked me if I could commission artwork for the characters in my stories, suggesting they’d be willing to join a higher tier if that was offered. However, commissioned artwork is expensive (we’re talking $200 to $1,000 per piece, depending on artist).

Thus, I’d like to first get an idea if you guys are even interested in that kind of thing, before seriously considering doing that.

NOTE: This is not to try to squeeze money out of you guys. I am more than happy with the support you are currently giving me. However, if enough of you want this, then I'll seriously considering looking into adding it as an option, and if you're not interested then that is perfectly okay (but please still vote).

 

ARTWORK INFO:

Due to how expense artwork can be (literally hundreds per piece), it would only be one piece per month, and I would likely have to offer it at a higher tier to essentially pay for it. In a way, you guys are working together to commission the art.

The artwork would likely be sexy, but not lewd (seductive outfits, but not naked).

And I would try to get an artist who can do a more realistic image (as opposed to anime-style). The image might still be a bit cartoony, but it would be better quality than anime. My goal is to have the artwork look as life-like as possible. Again, each piece would be hundreds, so the goal would be for it to be a decent quality.

 

Again, if you're not interested, that is perfectly okay. I'm not even entirely sure if I can offer this perk, since I have to commission it and need to work out an agreement with an artist, so please be honest with your vote. Thanks!

I might have an artist for you to consider. I don't know her rates, but if you wanted to get some info I could investigate for you.

I'm already at demigod status, should I vote, or would that skew the information you're trying to find? Also, any art of that could be used in ebooks that is already paid for is a plus. For an extra $5/month for a couple extra cheesecake pieces a year would be cool. Also, from what I've heard commissioning a piece can be time consuming. Initial negotiations, approving every stage, collaborating with an artist in phone calls/chats can eat a lot of time. And I gather some artists can be huge divas who think their creativity trumps your vision. I'd recommend if you go this route keep it to maybe 3-4/year until you find at least one collaborator you click with and can trust even if you don't charge patrons as much per month. Oh, and you could probably write commission fees off on your taxes as well.

Yeah, you can just vote that you are interested in the artwork, but wouldn't want to pay extra for it (or if you would pay extra, then you can select the appropriate tier). I also have an option for people who aren't interested at all. I specifically did 3 polls in order to try to most effectively collect the info I wanted, so yes, I definitely want everyone to vote. As far as book covers go, I already have book covers on my website at AuthorKaizerWolf.com (up to a book 8), so it wouldn't really be for that purpose. It would just be extra character art (which I'd intentionally commission to be as sexy as possible).

i would definitely love to get to see what your vision of the characters are, i always like to compare what i imagined the characters to look like versus what the author had in mind. as for an artist i don't know if they do commissions but dandon fuga does some pretty realistic looking artwork. probably very expensive though

Thanks for the suggestion! Although, that might be too anime-style for what I'm wanting. As far as 'my vision' of what the characters look like, that's a hard one to fully realize into existence, since someone else (the artist) is taking a verbal description and adding their own artistic understanding (and their personal style). Meaning, the same description would look very different from artist to artist. Nevertheless, if I end up commissioning artwork, I'd hope to pick someone who had art that would result in a sexy and 'close to what I want' result.

Here's maybe another option based solely on my personal opinion. For demigod only have like non lewd pics. Sometimes when I'm invested into a story I like to see if my imagination has correctly visualized the people. You could always put lewd up at a higher tier because art can be expensive. Especially for good quality that has the right feel to it. As many characters you have it could add up to a nice chunk of change. So I understand completely about not wanting to include it at a middle tier or so. But just including like a single non lewd of like the main characters (even like a single "group photo" per se of the cast) for people who do pledge a bit more then the bottom tier.
