C - THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD - FULL

Scott Witherall

Hello, darling! "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad" was the first movie that I can remember seeing in a movie theater when I was a child. I saw advertisements on television, and I begged my father to take me to see it. As I was born in 1969, the film must have been re-released in theaters in the mid-1970s. (Maybe 1973 for the movie's 15th anniversary?) I enjoyed your reaction, and I agree that the performers sold the fairy tale. The special effects for all of the fantastic creatures were created by the legendary Ray Harryhausen. The technique is called stop-motion animation and was pioneered by Willis O'Brien in the 1930s with the original "King Kong" (1933). Harryhausen studied his work and went on to create a legacy of his own. I found it very interesting that your favorite scene was between the genie Barani and Princess Parisa in the magic lamp. You said that moment showed kindness and compassion between the characters, and that is what appealed to you. Of course! Because you always connect to kindness and compassion! 😊 Thank you for your reaction! Happy New Year!

Thanks to Scott for this 'blast from the past'. I remember watching it many times as a kid. Richard Eyer played the genie and continued in films and television until 1967. He went on to teach elementary school in a small town in California, until retiring in 2006. He had a minor role in the film "Friendly Persuasion", a film I think Kemi would love.
