Your insight about the machinations and your appreciation for Palpatine's subtlety are wonderful, just a pleasure to watch, and so genuinely impressive coming from a first time viewer! The immortality that Yoda was talking about is the ability Jedi have to become those blue Force ghosts, like Obi Wan in the first trilogy. It can't save Padme, unfortunately. But Anakin could learn to become one, and in fact he did after Luke saved him! He is there at the end of Episode VI ❤️
