Yeeesss I was just thinking recently, knowing how much you love Judge Dredd with Stallone (you got the pronunciation right the first time 👍), that this would come up as a reaction. Maybe I'm psychic 👀 When Kay attempted to use Anderson's firearm, the DNA ID did not match and the gun exploded. It's a defence mechanism built into all Judges' firearms. The explosives Mama threatened Dredd with were real, but Dredd was willing to bet the range of the detonator (which is at the top of the building), would not reach through 200 levels of concrete. So Mama dying at the bottom, caused the signal to the detonator to be out-of-reach. This is a great action film, that used it's budget very well. Karl Urban is fantastic as Dredd. Most actors negotiate that they get a certain amount of screen time to show their faces on screen, when playing a leading masked hero. But Urban wanted to remain faithful to the comic and never show Dredd's full face in the film. You know Karl Urban as Éomer in Lord of the Rings, he led the charge with Gandalf to victory at the Battle of Helm's Deep, at the end of The Two Towers. And I would love to watch Judge Dredd from 1995 with you 😊👍

I think Karl Urban is underrated. He was great as Éomer but I've only ever seen him in minor roles and side characters. If you've ever seen the extended cut/deleted scenes of Return of the King, his acting when he finds Éowyn lying on the battlefield - amazing.
