Lol don't you stop talking to us honey, I love to hear your thoughts always. I'm here for your reaction as much, no more so than the content being reacted to. I will say I'm actually really enjoying this show so far. I don't watch shows much anymore, but this one has been adapted from video game to TV exceptionally well and I'm glad you are enjoying it too.

Verity

Obviously social media is exaggerated and isn't always an accurate reflection of what the majority of people think, but Twitter, Reddit, etc seem to be divided into 2 camps: gamers who absolutely love the show and gamers who absolutely hate the show, LOL. Personally I can't help comparing/contrasting each episode to the game even though I am enjoying it a lot. So I find it really refreshing to watch KSO's reactions because she had no prior exposure to the game, and she can judge the show on its own merits/flaws rather than judging it solely as an adaptation. It's like watching her react to the Marvel films with no idea what happens! Hehe.

Bythebook

I was really mad at Tommy in this episode. Joel went through so much to make sure his brother was safe and Tommy didn't even have the decency to just let him know he was okay. Meanwhile, Tommy started a whole new family without Joel. The way Joel must have felt to find out he was perfectly fine the entire time, given all that he sacrificed. I have a feeling from episode one that Tommy getting into trouble and Joel bailing him out was a frequent occurrence, which just made me even madder considering how Tommy reacted to Joel. Tommy agrees to take Ellie because he knows that Joel can't handle losing another child; it would destroy him. It's been twenty years since the death of his daughter and having Ellie around has dredge up a lot of emotions he never processed because he was always in survival mode. He is having PTSD (the first episode when he beats the guard to death, when they come across the a plane which caused their car crash, and then getting into an actual car crash with Ellie), he's having panic attacks (not a heart attack), and he doesn't know how to process it because he's feeling so many things all at once. He has also never had a good flashback of Sarah the entire show until this episode. Being with Ellie causes him pain because of his fear of losing her, but it is also healing him, which is ironic because for Ellie, Joel makes her feel less scared. I don't believe Joel is really as incapable as he believes, he just thinks the feelings he's having are a sign of weakness. He tells Ellie she's not his daughter because he's trying to convince himself. He's been referring to her as cargo, not family. This is the first time that I think Joel is looking at her with fresh eyes as Ellie and not Sarah. I think if Sarah had survived, she wouldn't have been able to stomach seeing her father killing people to protect her; she was too innocent. Ellie has a entirely different reaction to him killing people than Sarah had when he killed the old lady in episode one. Ellie can take care of herself. She doesn't always need Joel to protect her in the way that he thinks. She's proved that many many times and he's taught her well.
