I loved this book as a child but only ever saw a local theater adaptation. It was fun watching it alone & then again with you. Experiencing the story again as an adult, I can now see how much it has to say about grief, mental health, and how they can pervade all aspects of our life, including people in them. Your reflection at the end about gardens, like life, going through phases of death & renewal was really touching. Thanks for another great reaction!

This reaction not only brought me near tears . I was near her age when it came out. I was 9. I watched it over and over all the time. The music has a… soft magic about it. It was the first film I saw Maggie Smith on as well. I traded between this and the 94 Jungle Book. Thank you for bringing these memories back and lifting my heart. Much love to you and everyone here

Same! I used to watch this over and over on VHS tape LOL. I agree about the music - these melodies have been stuck in my head since the 90s! It perfectly captures that childhood sense of loneliness, curiosity, wonder, and joy. I love the winter scenes and the transition into spring...so magical.
