The aliens' deaths were due to their immune systems being unable to handle the countless microbes that inhabit the Earth, which we as humans have inside us to naturally co-exist with the rest of Earth's biosphere. I agree about Rachel, played by Dakota Fanning. She was the strongest actor in this movie, and it definitely felt it was presented by Spielberg for her to be the star, even with Tom Cruise casted. Unfortunately, especially in this day & age, I do think there would be so many people who feel they have to stop running, get their phones out & livestream these disasters, risking their lives for stupid reasons. Many people like that exist, but I'm the same as you Kemi, I'm getting the hell out of there ASAP. Btw, I also thought Melbourne was the capital of Australia 😆 Tom Cruise's character in this certainly isn't his most likeable (particularly at the beginning), he definitely has a collection of more likeable characters in his other movies, like Mission Impossible and even Tropic Thunder lol. He's probably the most ruthless studio executive ever in that film, but he's absolutely hilarious at the same time.

Fun reaction =) Yeah they basically got wiped out by bacteria. It's pretty reasonable since it's even happened here, such as when the Europeans went to the Americas and wiped out the Native Americans with small pox, and how tropical diseases in Africa killed Europeans until they could develop proper vaccines. The girl here is so amazing that even Tom Cruise himself said she is the star. He still sends her birthday cards!
