Wow, Kemi, you've never flipped through an adult magazine in your life? Hmm... I think I know what my next gift to you might be, LOL! You recognized Umbridge (Imelda Staunton) from Harry Potter, of course. There are a couple more actors from Harry Potter in this film: Rufus Scrimgeour (the new Minister of Magic, played by Bill Nighy) is Cliff, the closeted older gentleman. Lavender Brown (played by Jessie Cave) is a minor character in this film - Zoe, the girlfriend of Stella (LGSM member who founded Lesbians Against Pit Closures). Also, the real Jonathan Blake (Gethin's partner and the second person ever to be diagnosed with HIV in the UK) is still alive today at 73 years old.

As a gay man from a working-class family, this film always hits really hard. By the time I had an idea of my sexuality, this event was largely unknown to the communities I grew up in. Other things had taken its place. Learning of it was a revelation. A few years ago, I almost had the chance to meet some of the remaining members of LGSM after the parade for Vienna Pride. Unfortunately, I developed a migraine and went home in the hope it would lift. In the end, it lasted nearly two days. I very much wish that I had gone to meet them when my migraine was tolerable, instead of waiting and missing my chance. C'est la vie, I suppose. .
