Scott Witherall

Morgan Spurlock received an Oscar nomination for his work on "Super Size Me." He went on to create other documentaries and even had a short-lived television series between 2005 - 2008 called "30 Days" in which he would have people experience life from a different perspective. Episodes included "Immigration," where a border security guard moves in with a family of undocumented workers for 30 days; "Straight Man in a Gay World," where a 24-year-old straight man moves to San Francisco for 30 days to live in what is known to have the largest gay community in the country; and "Minimum Wage" where he and his girlfriend live on a minimum wage salary for 30 days. I really enjoyed "Super Size Me" when I first saw the film. None of the information really surprised me, but the way he presented the information was quite eye-opening! He definitely shocked his doctors and gaining 25 pounds in a month from eating unhealthfully and not exercising is a recipe for disaster. Fast-food has a place in this world. When I was a kid, eating at McDonald's was a special treat. No matter what we do, we need to make sure we have a good balance (as long as it's legal, of course). Eat your vegetables, drink lots of water, get plenty of exercise, and you can indulge in a Big Mac every once in a while. I'm not saying I always succeed practicing these good habits. It is most definitely a constant struggle. Unfortunately, Spurlock died from complications of cancer on May 23, 2024, at the age of 53. May he rest in peace. As always, thank you for your reaction to this film, Kemi! I am glad you enjoyed it, too!

Ah, I wrote my reply above before reading your comment; I think we are in agreement regarding the regulation of consumption of fast food. Or any unhealthy food in general. I wasn’t familiar with his other works; thank you - those sound very interesting! If his goal was only to raise awareness, I agree it’s much needed and he succeeded. It’s just that you can’t draw scientific conclusions regarding cause and effect just based on his experiment alone.

Damn the mom introducing her daughter to Jared from subway was cringe. He turned out to be a predator if you didn't know.
