I especially liked your analysis of Mystique. And if you're interested in what the actress looks like out of character, you've seen her: the woman who seduces the prison guard and injects him with iron is also played by Rebecca Romijn, just without the blue makeup.

Great to be back! Some of the parallels drawn between being a mutant and being gay are uncanny - Bobby’s “coming out” scene, for example. He tells his parents he is a mutant and his mom asks him “have you tried not being a mutant?” The exasperation that you portrayed in your reaction was simply perfect! That would be my reaction too if someone asked me if I’ve tried not being gay! By the way, Ian McKellen, who plays Eric Lehnsherr (Magneto), is gay in real life. In Fall 1999, when filming began for The Lord of the Rings in New Zealand, McKellen was in Toronto filming X-Men. It’s amazing enough that this talented actor portrayed two very different roles so masterfully, but to have done them both at the same time? Simply Genius! What a Legend!
