Today we do a deep dive into something we have very close personal experience with. China had an English Speaking Cult called "Crazy English" that took over parts of the country for years.


In this cult, Chinese nationalism mixed with English speaking for some very strange reasons, and with very strange results.

Q: sorry if you’ve covered this before but I’m new here and I haven’t heard you talk about this. You guys love China but because you can’t live there anymore would you ever consider moving to Taiwan?

Gareth, Don’t think they have been but I could be wrong. My husband and I visited the area around Blaina and Nantyglo because his great-grandfather and his brothers moved from there to the US in the 1860s. Wales is beautiful. Great riding for them if they go.

Liyang goes by the name of kelizi, I guess an approximation of "Cleese", or does the "zi" at the end make it "son of Cleese"? Maybe they should all start screaming, "I have a cold!!!!" I do remember this guy, although up until now I didn't make the connection as to why people would randomly walk up to me and scream that they were Chinese - I could pick up on that from context. Liyang came to speak at a school where I taught, although I wasn't there. Apparently, a panel of foreign teachers was present, while he started speaking in Mandarin, telling all foreigners, especially Americans and Japanese, to go fuck themselves. He encouraged the students to cheat the foreigners out of their money with their English skills. It was, perhaps, one of the worst white monkey gigs available. And "white" had some significance here, since the school advertised that it only hired white teachers, and that Blacks or Indians or anyone else were not welcome there. Fighting racism with racism. Thankfully, these days, you don't need to scream in a foreigner's face anymore to amaze them. You just show them your passport.
