Russian forces made another bridging attempt at the Siverskyi Donets River in an attempt to capture the town of Bilohorivka - again.

It was a complete disaster. Again.

The picture from @infonapalm is low resolution so take the count as very preliminary - another 39 vehicles. Mostly APC/IFV with some trucks, and at least two engineering vehicles. This does not count the lost bridging sections.

If our count is accurate Russian forces have lost 109 pieces of equipment, mostly armor, in 3-1/2 days.

Just woke, and this is just gold! I'm obviously aware of the great human loss here, but it would seem as though they are presented with little choice (if any) than to move forward. Its like lemmings 🙃

Bridging operations (wet gap crossings) are the most complex and dangerous operation in offensive operations even under ideal circumstances with lots of training and competent soldiers so much can go wrong as we see demonstrated in the 3 Russian attempts.

What if I were to tell you that they are preparing for a fourth attempt and it is already destined to fail because the OPSEC of their maneuvers is so bad that it's public knowledge? I've been told that a critical element of success for a bridging attempt is surprise. I understand why Bilohorivka is strategically important. I look foward to watching the documentary or reading the book that one day explains why that particular area is so critical to bridge at. My opinion: Ukrainian combat engineers have mapped every possible river crossing from Bilohorivka to Yampil already and have M777A2 artillery firing solutions for every square meter on both sides of the river ready to go.
