Standard practice is not to contact the authorities if you see a crime such as child porn being committed? Why didn't the BBC do both, contact FaceBook and the authorities? Shame on FaceBook if they were doing a "kill the messenger".

Yes standard practice for undercover journalism would be to contact authorities after verifying all facts of the story and publishing. I don't know whether the BBC did that or not, so that's a fair question.
