John Milburn is a nuclear physicist and has been using the Internet since before it was called the Internet. He's also helped build networks in Korea and understands how peering works from the inside. He was kind enough to share an hour and a quarter to walk us through why the disputes between Netflix, Cogent, Comcast, Verizon and others are happening. We also make a fair attempt to identify what actually could be done to make things work better for the consumer in the US. The answer is not net neutrality but it is also not letting the ISPs have their way. This interview will hopefully provide the basis for a special on peering and net neutrality. IN the meantime we're sharing it first with our Patrons to thank them for their support and making shows like this possible, So, Thank you.

If I ever do anything like this again, I will try to look into the camera, not off to the side at my big screen. I was rather embarrassed to notice when I went back and watched that I was looking off in the wrong direction for the entire interview. :-(

I liked it John! We see formal interviews all the time where people are looking straight to camera. But this had a nice feel to it.
