Just a quick note to say that profiling works both ways. Though I'm Canadian, here in Japan, white = American. Even friends and coworkers who have known me for years ask me "what about in America?" (Even though I'm a naturalized citizen and speak fluent Japanese) I always get asked about where I'm from as the first question. Even though I pull the similar joke you guys used and say "eastern Tokyo", as soon as I say Canada I get a barrage of stories of Niagara Falls etc. I know others people who are born here to foreign parents but raised their entire lives in Japanese schools get the "where are you from"? It used to bug me... but, the vast majority of people are just trying to be nice. (Vast majority, not everyone!) Anyway, don't worry, it works both ways. ;) Thank you for continually amazing shows.
