This episode was a great example of why Patrick frustrates me as a cohost. I don't care if he holds a different opinion than me - Tom and most of the cohosts do that at different times frequently. But he spent a huge percentage of the discussion section trying to argue that things weren't a certain way in France/EU, only to finally admit he had no knowledge because he's never even applied for a "regular" job. His stubborness/tenacity (depending on which side you're on) derails so many episodes, to the point it almost seems like he just like arguing sometimes. That's not what I come to DTNS for. I like constructive discussions, even to have my mind changed sometimes. Not someone arguing to argue with admittedly no knowledge of the topic, or as I've seen frequently, arguing after Tom/Sarah/others have disproven his side with facts. I realize change is unlikely, but this was just a perfect example that I wanted to at least mention it, and to distinguish "I disagree with his opinion" from what my complaint is with this co-host. After Patrick admitted a lack of knowledge, even Tom had to say "Where I was *trying* to go with this was...". I hate TV shows/podcasts that are just people yelling their opinion without knowledge / backup, and I hope that's not what DTNS becomes. Not even if it's just on Tuesdays.

Patrick is generally right, degrees are far less a requirement for a job in Europe. I remember applying for a job as a usability tester for a product and their posting said “BA/BS required” and I thought, gosh, I hope only college graduates are allowed to buy that software.
