I'd definitely be curious to see a Patreon video comparing the characters. Having young man Tom Sawyer always bothered me. I understand that they wanted a young American character. But The Adventures of Tom Sawyer took place before the American Civil War. The existence of slavery is a key premise of the sequel. So Tom Sawyer should be an old man around 1900. I'd long thought the Connecticut Yankee would have been a better choice, though time powers would've made the story more absurd. However, while watching your video, I wondered if instead Tom could have mentioned having visited the Connecticut Yankee's workshop and being accidentally zapped forward a few decades. (If they had to have him at all, of course.) That would have added to the number of characters with odd lifetimes. But having physically young Tom being a bit out of time might have brought a genuinely interesting twist to the relationship with Quartermain.

I would love to have a Patreon exclusive about the loyalty of the characters in LOEG to their original characters! I'm so sorry you have Covid, I got it for the first time ever last fall and it's rough, glad to hear you're on the mend!
