and now I have another stack of books and movies to add to my ever-growing list. THANKS. but I'm glad to hear that they were so faithful and that was a huge part of their success. The trend can be a good one, when done right.

I still have an issue with how the movies portray Haymitch - I found him a much for interesting and compelling character in the books; in the movies he is kinda bland and generic.

I think I'm actually in the minority in that this book is my favorite of the trilogy--I always loved the politics and the celebrity-as-power angle more than anything, so this really feeds that for me. I also feel like this is when we finally really get to know Peeta beyond just the Boy with the Bread, and I flipping love him (especially his prowess in the aforementioned celebrity-as-power thing). Fantastic review! I love that you're willing to just be like "Hey look, this is an interesting rabbit-hole" and dive down it for us. :3

You analysis of this series is quickly becoming my favorite of all you've done. I can't really pinpoint why, but I find them incredibly enjoyable! It may just be me, but there seems a genuine enthusiasm for this series from you. Or it may just be that you are truly growing at this analysis (which is also quite true) Keep up the great work.

Of the trilogy, I'd have to say that this book was my least favorite. It felt like it meandered more than the other books and while I didn't really have a problem with the arena only being in the last third of the book, all the time they are stuck in district 12 was a bit of a slog. That being said, and I don't know how much in the minority I am here, I found the movie far superior to the book. I felt it tightened up the plot, kept the story going and that change in emotion Katniss has from horror to fury in one shot is one of my favorites in the entire series.
