The Phantom of the Opera (Film) ~ Lost in Adaptation

A break down of what the 2004 film by Joel Schumacher and Andrew Lloyd Webber has in common with the musical theatre production it's based on. 00:36 Has "can be found here" with a gesture to the right side of the screen but there's nothing there. Was there supposed to be an image, a clip or a You#Tube info box thingy?

You're a pretty good singer.

This one got several laughs from me; great jokes! I also got my first Phantom introduction through the movie, and liked it a lot, but now I'm determined to see the musical next time I go to London. I rewatched Lindsay Ellis' review of the movie, and for what it's worth, I think you had plenty of interesting observations of your own.

God, could you imagine living in a universe where somehow this movie did well enough that Lloyd Weber was able to make a Love Never Dies movie? I shudder thinking about it.

My first encounter with the phantom was via Sir Terry Pratchett- Maskerade. And, not knowing the source, aka the phantom of the opera, at that time I couldn‘t help thinking my, this is very peculiar and weird, even for diskworld standards. To find out very much later, that it was a AL Webber- parody. My thoughts? It‘s one of the better ALW- Musicals- at least, there is a kind of plot (he can do it almost without ANY content- ‚Cats‘...). But: I still don‘t care for it. Apart from one or two songs the music is unremarkable, the plot has gaping holes ( most of them now closed by You, Dom, thank You very much!). The best thing I can say about it is, that it triggered YOUR Phantom- miniseries— which I enjoyed hugely!

Yeah, as far as the movie adaption goes, it's damning with faint praise when the best one can come up with is, "It could have been worse."

Huh. Didn't notice that tie pin 'til the blooper reel. That's the Dagger of Amon Ra pin that Pushing Up Roses was selling, isn't it?

One of my favorite episodes by far!
