You have as usual given voice to my rage and frustration with an adaptation! Much love!

Stay out of my house, Dom!

IIRCThe joke about Arthur starting a war due to a random statement IS in the movie, after the credits.

Why is my name not in the end credits? How have been supporting you on here for years. I know I have been a bit late with some of the payments but I paid it long before this video come out.

Didn't the book say that Zaphod had already spent several years of his Presidency in prison?

I see. I guess I never saw it because I left the cinema in disgust the second they started rolling...

Sorry Andrew, the credits are generated from Patreon at the start of each month and are no longer updated with every video. Names on payments that don't go through are automatically taken out.

My name is Andrew

No offense The Dom, but I found this to be more of an angry rant than a review of the book.

You so beautifully described what I wanted to say in 2005 when I saw this film with friends who... didn't hate it, despite being avid readers of the series.

Another fantastic review, The Dom. ^^ I've never seen any version of Hitch Hickers, but most of my friends have, and most of them hate this movie too. Based on the face value similarities I used to think, "The differences sound negligible. Why hate it?" Thanks to your review, I think I finally understand why it's so distasteful to fans. It sounds like the film took a lot of *face value* characters and concepts and presented them superficially, leaving out all the subtlety, irony, and commentary they originally had. Thank you so much for clearing that up. ^^

Wonderful review. Sums up all I hated about this movie and love about the source material.

I've never read the book or heard the radio show, so my introduction to this story was the movie several years ago. As a movie it was fine. I guess I have a silly sense of comedy, because the slapping creature scene had me cry laughing. Random fact I had my first allergic reaction while watching this movie.

Hey The Dom with regards to Marvin's design there's actually a bigger issue, no Diodes down his left side. This is important because in a later book he mentions that they are the only parts that have never been replaced. The impliction being that those diodes not working being the true reason for his depression.
