I have a story I want to tell.  And it involves Supergirl.  It's taken from a gamebook.  Some of you that I chat to on Discord know which book and which scene it is.

You may recall that I made a 1980s Supergirl nearly two years ago, then never really used her.  One of the main problems was the time and resource to dForce her flowing hair, cape and skirt for every scene.  This is major two-hour grind and gets in the way of the spontaneity when it comes to creating scenes.  The other issue was the complexity and challenge of the backdrops and sets required for the scenes.

So... the urge to do Supergirl things hasn't gone away.  And since I have been playing with AI art, one of the things I encountered was how impossible it is to retain any consistency with depictions of your own characters. Conversely, DALL-E for example is able to render Supergirl 100% consistently and authentically.  So I have been doing a lot of that...

Now, we all agreed democratically that you didn't want to see those pictures here. In any case, what I want to depict goes well beyond the capabilities and policies of any AI.

What I can do, however, is use some AI wizardry to create backdrops to avoid the dreaded 'blue/green/red studio background'.

When I loaded up my 1980s SG, I wasn't really enamoured of the model I chose last year, and started looking for another one (yet another character! ack!).  However the answer slapped me in the face when I realised I could try out the internet's second most attractive internet blonde*, which is my Cosplayer Charlotte.  I put her in the outfit and she rocked it immediately, giving me new enthusiasm for the project.  I hope you will all agree(?)

I had a chat with Charlotte and though she was thrilled to cosplay such an iconic character, she didn't want to do it without the powers.  So as the controlling mastermind of the Torqualverse (TM) I have imbued her with all of Kara Zor-El's abilities.  She just needs to stay under a yellow sun and avoid any green rocks or their derivatives, otherwise she may be in trouble.

The above concept pics show Supergirl in some AI-sets I made using Midjourney.  They are original digital drawings without human subjects so don't IMO constitute 'art theft'.  But let me know your thoughts on that.

Final question is the delicate but crucial one of legwear.

Those of you who remember 1980s Supergirl (Helen Slater and the Comic depictions of the time) will remember her as a bare-legged superheroine.  In recent times, Melissa Benoist boldly stepped into a pair of taupe pantyhose.  Then, just to cap things off, the AI sometimes draws her with the same blue tights as her cousin, something I started to grow unexpectedly fond of.  My original 80s SG had nude pantyhose.  So that's four options.  Supergirl's outfit has morphed and changed so many times over the years that there really isn't a canonical position on nylon.

For the purposes of originality and doing something a little different, I have narrowed SG Charlotte down to two options:  Bare and Blue.  Please let me know which you prefer now because I am going to render a sequence of images based on your answer.

Thanks, and hope you're all enjoying the build up to thew festive season.

She looks lovely! I love that her costume clings to her breasts like it's painted on, maybe some hard nipples might make an appearance? I'm a confirmed leg man, so in the absence of hose, I prefer the bare legs. I can't wait to see Charlotte taste defeat! :-)

Charlotte as Supergirl looks amazing, and I have no problem with the AI generated background. There is almost no situation in which I would vote for bare legs over hose... but this is a very rare exception. After seeing the bare legs and the blue hose in these pictures, I would prefer Charlotte to have bare legs.
