520. Revelation

And Salvos was gone.

Haec watched as the portal closed overhead, and the pressure on his shoulder eased. Regnorex’s rage calmed. The dark aura that had caused the entire Domain of the Demon King to quake dissipated.

He stood there in silence, but none of the Primeval Demons dared to move. Haec closed his eyes as he lay there, sighing softly. He should have been unhappy— upset that he could no longer cross through to the Mortal Realm.

But he was content. After all, he had finally seen Salvos— the real her— after so long. And that was enough for him.

“It is no matter.”

Regnorex’s words caused Haec to jolt up. The gathered Primeval Demons raised their heads, while the Archdemons still dared not to move. The Demon King strode up the cracked stairway leading up to his throne, his demeanor starkly different than what it was just moments before.

“Levithus had done his duty. The partial merging of the planes has been completed.”

Haec slowly rose to his feet, watching as Regnorex settled onto his vast throne. The gathered Primeval Demons bowed their heads low and listened to their King.

“Desolation will come to an end. The cycle of Advent continues, and Revelation will begin. The Beast shall return to its slumber. The Devil…”

The Demon King paused. For a moment, a black aura flickered around him, and Haec felt the overwhelming fear seeping in once again. But that moment passed.

“The Devil shall has played his tricks once more, but this time, he shall pay for what he has done.”

The Primeval Demons exchanged a fearful glance. Even Haec understood what that entailed. Regnorex simply leaned back on his throne and closed his eyes.

“Soon, the Mortal Realm will understand hell. And I will lead us all to salvation.”

Update January 28 2023: As stated last chapter, $5 patrons will be on break for 10 days. That means no chapter until around the 8th of February. You can, of course, subscribe to the $10 tier and get chapters right now. This break will happen to every tier and public readers whenever they reach the end of Book 9, and the $10 tier break is already over. 

So it is honestly a good time to upgrade at the start of February.

But, well, it's up to you of course :)

Author's Notes:

I will be taking a week and a half break from Salvos now that volume 5 is finally fucking finished! 

This took me over a year of non-stop uploads, where I never went more than 5 days without writing a Salvos chapter. But it's finished! And I need these 10 days off... mostly to finish Trace Book 2 before Amazon boops me for not submitting a manuscript by the 25th.

The next chapter will be out some time between the 23rd to the 25th. But wait-- public readers, $5 patrons, and $3 patrons will continue to get a chapter during this period, which may seem unfair. However, when they do catch up to chapter 520, they will also be faced with the same ~10 day break of no chapters. So there will be a little bit of desync for a bit, but there's no need to worry about that.

Anyway, regarding volume 5... in total, Salvos volume 5 was split into five parts and over 600,000 words long. I haven't done the full calculations yet, and when I do, I'll let you guys know what its total tally was. But man, I initially planned for everything that happened in volume 5, and everything that happened in volume 4, to happen in only a single volume. What was initially was supposed to be 200,000 words spiraled out of control to 800,000 words.

I wish I was more concise in my writing. But I know that I wouldn't have been satisfied otherwise. Even though I wrote a few bad chapters over the course of moving countries, I am still happy with how it turned out as a whole.

Volume 6 is going to be incredibly hard to write, honestly. So part of my break is also trying to figure out what I need to write when I return from my break.

It's only a week and a half. It's not that long, especially when you can check out Amelia: The Level Zero [Hero] while waiting! It has over 50 chapters now, and it'll continue to update even over the break from Salvos!

I'm also going to have another popularity poll posted tomorrow, because the last one was kinda for the lulz with Salvos included. Stay tuned for that.

Thanks for writing :) Little suggestion: Change your patreon payment method to the new one, so payments are not ending at the end of the month, but at the same date it was paid the month before. Example, myself: I just subscribed now, and I have only 10 days left now until my Payment is renewed. Basically, that made me think If I should really sub now to your patreon. If you would use the new method, like everyone else is already doing, I would have paid up to 20. February, instead of my payment would be renewed on 1. February already. That's just more fair, I guess :)

I did the same thing recently and subbed a few days ago. Now I find out that there will be a 10 day break on Salvos. This pretty much kills this month. I only want to read Salvos. I really don't care about the other stories, Amelia and Trace or the comics. This old method means I've ran out of thing to read by subbing in the middle of the month and now have to wait till the author posts 31 more chapters to Royal Road. Just bad timing I guess.

Do not see how you are going to make Sal pay. he did not need a summoning ritual to cross the mortal realm. and he is not some specialized trickster. He is able to be a trickster through his power.

In the end I would say Regenerox is a fool. he sped up the true threat. one even worse than the beast. his ambition would speed up the doom of them all.

Dude, if anyone deserves a break, it's you. This volume has been amazing, and I know there is so much more to come. Salvos is one of those characters that could allow you to go on and on with her adventures. I'm looking forward to The Watcher (AKA Melissa) being introduced, along with the higher beings that Salvos will interact with. You really have created a story that could just keep going and going. Thank you for these chapters. They really are bright spots in my days, and taking a break and taking a breath will just make the story all the more brighter when the next chapter begins.

What a volume! I wouldn't say it had real bad chapters, maybe some subpar ones... atleast for the quality you normally provide. Honestly Salvos is such an enjoyable protagonist that it's hard to complain when reading her adventures. You deserve your semi break and keep it up!

Thanks for such a perfect ending. The only thing it’s missing is finding out how humanity reacts to their savior being a demon, but knowing you I’m sure we will find out eventually.

This was truly well done. Taking a break and outlining where you want the story to go is a very good idea. If anything, a week and a half aren't long enough for that.

If Salvos ever gets it’s own animated show, the entirety of the first season should be Salvos and Haec and their time in Hell. We need more HAEC!!!

Melissa isn't the watcher, unless she decided to un-ascend, skip a thousand years forward, return to the mortal plane and un-level a dozen times. The watcher is more likely the trader.

I think there's a chance Melissa is the Watcher. The 180 class is her 2nd or 3rd (if that's a thing) class. I don't get the "un-ascend" part of Ur comment @Daniel.
