April 4 Update (Patreon)

Lots of stuff going on, but I won't bury the lede: TLS 0.56.0 will hopefully be coming out next weekend. My attention has been more fractured than normal the past few weeks, but I have been able to work on it, and many things came together this week.

It's not completely certain. I still don't have two Tower maps I commissioned, though I should get them soon. The core event is basically finished, but that alone would be unsatisfying, and the other quests are still scattered in partially-finished state. If you were thinking of asking questions that aren't time sensitive or sending me long emails, maybe hold off a bit, or at least be patient with my responses.

Meanwhile, we have a few fun things!

Worldbuilding Posts: In preparation for the eventual release of another TBS book, I've resumed making worldbuilding posts, which you can find on the specific blog or fan subreddit.

Book Club: My novella Blades Falling Softly was chosen for one of r/fantasy's book of the month clubs! If you're interested, there's a Q&A with me and there will be discussion posts throughout the month. OEA Maps: Lots of Grimmton stuff this time. You can see that I did a mild redesign of one of the exterior maps for more visual diversity. The others are town interiors. Check them out, especially if there are any artifacts from all the shadows.

I'm personally fine waiting a bit longer for a better product but I am super excited for the new content! And congrats about Blades Falling Softly! That's super fun and the comments in the thread were encouraging.

I enjoyed blades, although imo, that conversation that the end did have some forshadowing, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable.

Your comment said next weekend possibly. Would that mean this Friday? If so that would be awesome. If not its worth another weeks wait. But no one would begrudge it if you had TLS fully ready this week.

You say there are side quests. Does that mean this is open world or is it all enclosed like the last gathering?

Historically, major TLS releases are always Friday - by American reckoning at least - and usually between 15:00 and 19:00 Central Daylight Time.

The Wasteland shadows look fine, if slightly sharper than those those in the southern Wasteland. However, those poison pools are so samey. Those shorelines don't look natural at all and the bubbles form a freakin' grid. The interiors look okay but I'm surprised there are no bloodstains even in the weapon shop since he attacks people.

I should have mentioned that the poison pools, like the other liquid tiles, are actually animations in the engine and this screenshot is just an approximation that will be animated in the real game. That said, I don't know that the shorelines would change, so say more about what you'd want. Haha, good idea about bloodstains in the weapon shop.

Oh, for the upcoming TLS update, do you have any plans for Infasis and Mherin to show up? I don't suppose there's a lot of time now for them if you didn't already, but I only just remembered that you said to remind you about them later the last time I asked what happened to them.

Yeah, I'm stretched a bit thin. This would be good to include in 0.56.x, though... if anyone is passionate about this, they could help by telling me the last switches involving Infasis and Mherin's fates.
