It was just Thanksgiving for some of you, and a holiday for many. I'll simply say that I'm immensely grateful to have all of you supporting me. ^-^

The holiday isn't much of an event for me, so I am about as productive as usual, but I've gotten the sense that everyone is busy this time of year. So instead of hitting you with a lot of announcements or updates, I'll just share a random silly thought I might never have opportunity to share otherwise.

As most of you know, Crimson Gray is an alternate take on the yandere trope that makes it essentially congenital. Ever since working on it, I've had an idle thought that I don't think could ever become a real game, story, or even joke. So I'm going to share it for no reason and hopefully a few of you will smile.

Basically, I think the idea of someone being "congenitally tsundere" is kind of funny. Like they're not just abusive or in denial, they're physically incapable of admitting their feelings or avoiding tsundere tropes. The idea of such a person trying to build and maintain a healthy relationship is amusing to me.

Again, I don't think this concept could sustain a project and I have no real impulse to do so. Maybe a couple pages as a joke comic, but that isn't something I generally do. I just occasionally snicker while imagining a happily married woman having sex with her husband and going, "I'm only doing this because you're a wonderful father to our children and the best partner I could ever ask for, not because I l-like you or a-a-anything, b-baka!"

This has been your critically important weekly update.

I snickered. :D

I can confirm that this did in fact make me smile. I was confused at first since my biggest tsundere exposure is Rin from FSN, and she's not that bad in the later parts. Then I hit the married woman part and had to take a moment.

BTW I had a wonderful Thanksgiving, how about everyone else?

JJS

So I was wondering something. Haven't seen any mention of TLS lately. How have you been doing with the planning/programming work on it?

WaxerRed

I think the answer is the same as it's always been, It'll be ready when it's ready, and no amount of asking or arguing will have SL talk about or release it before she is comfortable to do so. (And I think we can all agree that nothing more needs to be said on the matter.)

As someone who enjoys making up random scenarios and scenes, your congenital Tsundere character brought me immense joy and fodder for future musings! :D

Badger66

Yeah, I am usually pretty silent on these updates. I do read them, just usually don't comment. But this one made me smile and laugh at the whole idea of it.

I *know* I’ve seen a one-off gag comic with a tsundere mom, protesting that she doesn’t like her kid, she just made too much food and so he should take this bagged lunch. Damned if I can remember where or who by, though.

Desertopa

You know, I think the most interesting take on the whole tsundere archetype I've seen so far was actually a manga where the *main character* was a tsundere girl with a crush, which gave an internal window into her acts of self-sabotage without turning them into tropey gags. I think that might actually be a workable basis for a game, where you play as a tsundere in first person trying to win your love interest over despite a pathological inability to be honest about your feelings.

I really appreciate those who silently support as well! Lately there has been less feedback where expected, though, so I figure it's a good time to let people relax with family or deal with their own things.

Here's a small comic about a congential tsundere: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0c/c9/5f/0cc95fd379c1efafde5f56a35722295b.jpg (I had to use the ugly link to not spoil the punchline.)

Not only is the link ugly, it seems not to work. And if it did work, it'd seem to be a WebP file, and therefore not work for some people anyway.

Anonymous

Actually being such a person sounds like suffering... and a plausible mental condition for a person to have in the Crimson Gray setting.

i will be honest this actually put a smile on my face

I had to look up what Yandere and Tsundere even are. My awful, shameful secret is that apart from some dubbed OG Space Battleship Yamato as a boy and some Dragonball Z/Gundam on cartoon network in the 90s to kill time, I'm basically not an anime viewer.

Hey, that's pretty much all you need. Some Dbz as a kid, some Fullmetal Alchemist as a teen, and some hilarious abdridged Youtube series when you are bored. That should cover all the important bases.

I pledged my soul, (or at least most of my fun time on evenings), to my parents so I could watch Robotech, and Dark Shadows right as I got home from school, then do my chores and homework in exchange for A's in my classes.

Haven't you hearf of Dr. Josef Tsundere's Bipolar Personality Disorder (or just "tsundere" for short) ? : https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=23660
