EDIT:  Links are updated to 0.44.6 to fix the heal bug and add some minor improvements. I also just put up a new art post for some patron tiers showing several of the finished scenes.

Check out the blog for the links:

I'll save everything else for this week's update on Sunday. Hope you enjoy!

Hmm, are the erosian healers supposed to be completely useless? I seem to remember them being a pain to take out, but now all of their heals are "blocked." I could see there maybe being a lore reason for it considering how messed up their origins are, but since the characters didn't comment on it, I'm kind of assuming there was an improperly-coded immunity in the VSA enemies

sierralee

Thanks for the report! This is almost certainly due to the changes made to the healing spell balance, but I haven't figured out the exact issue yet. To answer your question, they're definitely supposed to be healing for a lot.

Is it on purpose that you can refuse to take the Mother pin to get some RP with Lynine then immediately pick it up after that with no penalty? (haven't checked myself this works, but it's listed as a, maybe out-of-date, tip on the wiki)

OK, thanks to Scoutman we've found a minor issue in the calculations before the final fight. Fuck Palace map EV001. The calculation uses Temp2 to check what bonus Tower Front and Erosia score you receive prior to the FL fight, but the checks for [FL Injury] and [FL Injury 2] each increment Temp1 by 1 instead of Temp2.

DukeLeto7

Minor issue, Hilstara's new Erosian Front map doesn't quite cover the screen's right edge.

Is there a trick to the fight against the Erosian forces? That last battle in the temple - the one where they claim it is their last stand - has defeated me six times in a row, which is something I've never experienced aside from the optional battles. Between the reaper's attack and the succubi's sexy glance, I'm lucky if I can take down a single enemy before all four of my characters are killed.

DukeLeto7

Vhala's Offensive rain is going to be your friend here. Bulk debuffs to them, keep Carina buffing your defense. and mass healing Have Robin and maybe also Riala use fire attacks to bring down the captain, than ice on the reaper and succubus.

is it me or when you unzip the nwe verison, you can't no longer transfer saves?

Nice update! When one looks at the entire war the scale is impressive. Lots of stuff going on. Bit late for number/balance stuff so I'll focus on general thoughts: -Estvan's last act of defiance fits him perfectly. Splitting his own shard is just the sort of spiteful "fuck you" that encompasses his character. >I wonder if the minor shards and the potential for new IKs will force another Gathering. Considering the number of major IKs left, and their openly hostile relationship to one another, I doubt it. Although it might be worth doing to get all the newbies in one place to fight over them and it would be interesting to see a Gathering as a major player, rather than a newbie trying to avoid getting squashed. >Dealing with the tiny shards sounds interesting in general. I wonder if someone will use one for evil (or good) beyond just trying to become an IK. There are many possibilities. >Speaking of shards I wonder how the Incubus Emperors shard is doing. Simon's had it for awhile and while it was mentioned hes still working on it, I wonder how close he feels he is. -Lots of interesting Tower stuff. From Antiala, to the Ghenalon Sage, to the Goddess of Magic, to the New Guy in White. So much more to speculate, so many possibilities! >That doesn't even touch on Mestan's new friend, Shining Swords, Demons, and many other things. We may have a chapter left still but it feels like there is still a lot of ground to cover and mysteries keep growing. -It feels like everyone got their time to shine here, especially Baila. No bench warmers in this harem. >Wynn was a pleasant surprise. > Regarding Wendis, I worry letting her torture the fucklord will have consequences. Seems like it is almost too good a choice with no downsides. -When Simon thanks Wynn post battle he mentioned that without her help Uyae may have died. Altina and Varia were there too. Was Simon not concerned about them or am I missing something? Gonna do a deeper dive/replay once chapter 4 finishes. Chapter 4 feels like the most complicated one yet! Looking forward to each update.

Decanter

We can only hope torture turns out to be the wrong choice. As it is, it doesn't even cost any RP with anyone.

Hey, Sierra, will there be another opportunity for investments between now and the end of the chapter? I remember you saying something that there'd still be one more left - but were you just referring to the Kyangen, or will there be a last opportunity to nab the IK pin?

Suggestion: Why not make Zirantia more or less resilient to damage in this war based on a higher or lower Zirantia CD from way back in the 3rd Arclent War? Is "Great Thenours War" now canon? If so what do we call the Erosian Prelude in Arclent?

sierralee

This is a potentially good idea, but I don't want to retroactively change the balance this much. I'd also need to look into how much Zirantia CD impacted the core variable before, as that might lead to effectively double penalizing/rewarding the player. >Is "Great Thenours War" now canon? If so what do we call the Erosian Prelude in Arclent? There's no canon name, sorry. Ghenalon will call it the Great Thenoursan War, while the internal labels will stick with Erosian Prelude and Erosian War.

Unrelated to war balancing, but is it intended for Public Works 1 to have a cosmetic change even during Yhilin Final? Right now Yhilin Final alone doesn't add the statues that Public Works 1 does, but in my mind it makes more sense for Yhilin Final to be homogeneous across games

sierralee

Intended, yes. Though I do understand your perspective, I was actually concerned that Yhilin Final would feel too much like it paints over previous player decisions.

Just finished checking 0.44.5 and didn't find anything not already reported, other than the latest "how the fuck am I only just noticing this" typo: looks they -> looks like they? https://www.dropbox.com/s/7z4fn5xiirglpuv/Screenshot%202019-07-31%2017.33.08.png?dl=0

Out of morbid curiosity, what turned out to be the cause of the enemy healing issues?

sierralee

The updated healing equations have a new component you can see in the database that basically adds "+ (level-based number)". Some enemies use the same skills as the party. I figured that enemies would have no level and thus the second part of the equation would evaluate to zero, changing nothing, but instead the ENTIRE equation became zero, possibly due to error handling.
