UPDATE

Hey, everybody! Now that I have some new images, I decided to send a notification for this post so that I could show everyone. The following link contains both updated references for the same characters as before as well as a new comparison image.

For the characters, we've made a number of edits. While things are now very close to my mental images, I'm not the most detail-oriented so please do provide feedback.

The brand new image is a comparison of human and succubus breasts. These are some sketches showing my concept of succubus anatomy as mentioned below. My idea is for the humans to be idealized but more realistic while the succubi are less realistic but hopefully not cartoonishly so. I'm fairly pleased with the differences and don't want to overdo it, but as always you're welcome to comment. ^-^

ORIGINAL POST

I haven't worked much on art lately, due to being laser focused on the TLS update, but that didn't mean Annikath wasn't working on the things I'd given her previously. This post has been a little delayed on my end, but here is the first set of character reference sheets.

Link: (see above)

The purpose of these isn't the color or shading, but establishing key details: height, muscularity, hair, breast size, hip ratio, etc. I'm sure you all know projects where character designs aren't consistent, or where all the characters look the same with different colored hair. By drawing these first, the hope is to keep characters on model and avoid forgetting details.

One note is that these are the first time we have art showing something that's canon in my mind: the differences of succubus bodies. The one you may notice first is that succubus breasts have magical lifting properties whereas other races' breasts will follow the laws of physics for a more realistic look. Succubi also have consistently more dramatic waist to hip ratios.

Aside from races, I want there to be consistent differences in body type between different roles aside from "abs vs no abs". As you see in those, Qum is a lot softer and more rounded than Aka. These first few references span the gamut, so you can probably extrapolate to the others: all the fighters will be quite toned, mages will be trim, and healers/non-combat will be curviest. With various twists for certain characters, of course.

If anyone has a huge objection to the basic design of any of the characters, now is a good time to mention it. There's a possibility that I've neglected a canon detail, after all. Beyond that, any feedback is useful and I hope people like them.

My hope is to get the full work on scene art for the first chapter started before I move out of the TLS editing phase and into full production of 0.44.0. You guys will get to see that as it's drawn, then we'll work on integrating it once a decent number of scenes are done.
