I've often found that a sense of 'closeness' is important in making these images work. I see a lot of art where the stomach just doesn't feel like it's really connected to the rest of the character. This sketch is my attempt at exploring that theme, and a very very weak attempt at humor.

You're right but a big part of that is that the prey is a bit confusing here. (Is that a foot by his sunken eyes, etc?) If you: 1) Made the prey a little less jumbled and easier to discern his pose. 2) Maybe changed the prey to someone who was trying to run away. 3) Changed the speech bubble to something like: "Even the Flash can't escape your stomach." Then this drawing might, indeed, be very hot. :)
