Hello there!

After much thought, this was the method I decided to do the details for Lana's capes!

As you already know and have followed along here, all the gold details on this costume are glued together with thermo-glue, so I decided to glue all the gold details on the cape onto the white fabric and then gently cut the outline of it, leaving a little extra for later be glued to the blue fabric, will it work? I don't know, but I'm hoping so because I don't have any more fabrics to do other tests much less for another cape this size! haha 😂😂

This cape is a real nightmare because there are 4 types of fabrics fitted together and my luck was that the white taffeta fabric is a little transparent, which helped me A LOT to see the pattern underneath so I could glue the details without making mistakes.🤗

Anyway, I know you guys don't really like to comment, but I'd love to know what you guys think!😊

This looks great and so clean! How long does the thermo-glue last?

Do you paint the cut edges of the gold fabric?

LayzeMichelle

Thank yooou and it lasts forever!🤗 Its composition is made of Thermoplastic Polyurethane and it is applied to everything that sticks using heat as a source of activation of the glue, so because it melts and merges with the fabric, it is good to be sure of the region that is being applied because it is a way of no return after!

Oooh what paint do you use to match the gold fabric? Does it crumble over time from movememt?

Oooh, that is a very nice glue! Do you have to use a lot or just drops of glue? It didn't leak on the thin taffeta?

LayzeMichelle

The paint I use is for screen printing, suitable for t-shirt prints so it lasts forever! And the leather I use is soft kaori leather, as it is suitable for couch upholstery, it is durable unlike other synthetic leathers.

The thermo-glue is a film, you buy it by the meter, draw the details you want on it, apply it with a hot iron to the fabric you want and voilá, it sticks!😘👌

Wow, those are good products! Are these costume pieces safe to wash?

Oooh, that's awesome! Some glues don't like washing at all, but this sounds perfect

I really really like this cape 💕 but i don’t understand : it’s 4 layer of taffeta or did you use oser fabrics? Because the shape is insane!

LayzeMichelle

Thank you!!!✨✨✨ You say in the part I said (This cape is a real nightmare because there are 4 types of fabrics fitted together)?? I expressed myself wrong, I wanted to refer to the colors that the cover has which are white, gold, blue and gray and not that I used 4 types of fabrics! BUT I used 3 types of fabrics yep, here on WIP 3 (https://www.patreon.com/posts/lana-cape-lining-79235373) you can see that for the lining I used blue prada satin, taffeta for the white (with the painted gray part) and golden for leather details! 🤗
