Dev Update #43 - The One With the Dog (Patreon)
Content
This week was a bit crazy. Tuesday afternoon, we had a rescue dog come to live with us. If you're keeping track, this was the dog we met last Friday. She is a sweet golden retriever & collie (or border collie) mix. We planned to get her Tuesday afternoon, and we spent the rest of Friday and the weekend getting things ready for her arrival. The cats were displeased with all the redecorating. Monday we got a call that the person who runs the rescue was sick, and it might be a few more days before we could get her. It would almost certainly not be on Tuesday. Not a big deal. We could wait. Then Tuesday at 3PM I get a text: "ETA 3:45." Oh boy! Furiously getting things picked up for her quick arrival took nearly until she arrived (the rescue brings the dog to your home to finish up everything and do a quick last sanity check before leaving the dog with you). Lucy bursts in, and occupied the rest of our day.
Going from a 11 lb. dog to this nearly 60 lb. girl is quite the experience. She is just over 4 years old and a bundle of energy still. I think our cats agree that this is an "experience." She had a lot of training, and she is fairly well behaved. We are all still very much in adjustment mode though. With a nice snowstorm predicted for my area this weekend, we will see how she feels about snow. For now, she is a bit annoyed that she has to spend her time on a leash or in a crate. Once all animals tolerate each other, she will be off the leash in the house. Our genius plan to keep the cats in a separate room for a few days survived a few hours. They escaped their room, much to their everlasting regret.
Other than dog adventures, I have started on game renders. Enjoy your first preview. Assuming I don't lose power this weekend, I'll be plugging away on renders, in between dog play time and dog/cat mediation. There are still some story elements that I am not 100% convinced will work, but I'm just going to address those as I go. They aren't anything that is going to require significant changes, especially to scenes I complete before I have to deal with them.
Now I'm back to the day job for a few more hours, but hope to get some render work in tonight. Have a great weekend, and for those on the east coast, like I am, stay safe with the winter storm.
