Chap 7 Cover Illustration/postcard + Process (Patreon)

We're getting verrrry close to the end of chapter 6, so we thought we'd give you all a preview of the chapter 7 cover!

This cover is a little different from all the previous ones in that it's not a symbolic illustration but rather part of the scene itself. 

This is probably the first time we see Raziol's room. He's got a pretty strange layout compared to Sulvain's with a loft and small library over his bed. We'll get to see a bit more of it in the first scene for chap 7. :D

Raziol is pretty messy compared to Sulvain but he does have his own way of being organized. He keeps some of his most prized possessions on his desk. The globe was a gift from Huygens.

His room is located in the academy, in a nook close to the library. 

Here's a small breakdown of the illustration.

First: Thumbnail or rough sketch

Then the pencil:

Then inks. Jen inked Raziol on the computer and I inked the BG with a mechanical pencil over a blue printed version. Then we combined them.

Then we have our assistant Maria fill in the flats with the colors I decided for the color palette.

And finally light, shadows, and details :D

With a little levels adjustment we have the first image :D

Indoor and night palettes have always been a challenge for me but it's so fun when they come together just right~ :3
