Hello! This past week I put a lot of musical information into a video about Pikmin 3's boss themes, and in this post, I wanted to put it all in a gallery! This will have all the boss production art and the corresponding flowcharts for the music of each boss's battle. This post will contain spoilers for Pikmin 3's bosses, sorry about that. But I'll post them in the order I went over them in the video. Here's the video, by the way: https://youtu.be/GaBJ2C7Am6E

Some of these flowcharts have had information updated! I'll note changes below the flowcharts in question. Without further ado:

Armored Mawdad

Vehemoth Phosbat

Mid-bosses (the Burrowing Snagret is used as an example)

I added a note here because not every boss can defend! For some, shaking off Pikmin counts as an "attack" cue, rather than a "defense" cue.

Sandbelching Meerslug

Scornet Maestro

This chart has the most exciting change, which several comments on the video clarified for me: the loop that I referred to as unused in the video is actually used when the Scornet Maestro is ordering its Scornets into formations! I feel sheepish for not recognizing that initially, but I suppose I always focused on getting behind the Maestro to attack it during that part. So, I've added it to this flowchart as a precursor to the "attack" loop.

Quaggled Mireclops

Mysterious Life-form/Plasm Wraith

Now consolidated into one chart. And finally...

Side Story Boss (no art given to avoid too many spoilers, since this is far into the epilogue content!)

You'll notice "small transition to stage 2," because there is a small one-shot transition when the second stage of this boss fight begins. If you activate stage 2 during stage 1, even during the small victory theme at the end, you'll get the aggressive "introductory melody in brass" after stage 1 is complete. But if you haven't started stage 2 until stage 1 is entirely complete, the small victory theme entirely played out, then follow the blue arrows in this flowchart, going to to the blue "small transition to stage 2" if and when stage 2 is activated. This means that the brass introductory melody could be entirely missed if the player only completes stage 1 and then waits before starting stage 2.

Thanks to @Griffco42 on Twitter for pointing out that detail to me. And the system is still fresh; I doubt that's the last discovery to be made on the topic! But for now, I'm happy to answer questions and just glad overall to have piqued people's interest in the intricate adaptivity of Pikmin music!

Thank you very much! Your comments always brighten my day. And yeah, it was particularly fun to put that extra bit of time and shading into these bosses, they deserve it for having such intricate music!

Wow! I can't imagine how long it took to figure out all these charts for the bosses. The way how you made these charts makes it really clear to look at, well done Scruffy!
