Patrons,

It's hard to believe Summer's already here! There's never a dull moment in the retro handheld world. Since we've spoken last, the Retroid Pocket 2, Ayn Odin, and Miyoo Mini have begun landing landing in greater numbers, and there's a whole new crop of Windows-based handhelds to look forward to from the likes of Ayn, Aya, and Anbernic. Even some of the mythical batch-shipped preordered portables of 2022 like the Steam Deck, Playdate, and Analogue Pocket have started hitting the streets. Whether you're checking out the latest gadgets, or just constantly pining for the next big thing, there's a lot going on at the moment!

We've been keeping busy as well! Rapid99 has continued to fire on all cylinders with the Game of the Month program, and we've recently added a new rapid-fire "Game of the Week" category highlighting shorter games that can be beaten in an hour or two. It you like your gaming sessions on the longer side, we've still got you covered. Our new experimental "Monster Hunter Midsummer" program is running now through September 5th, and is giving players an opportunity to experience a more slow-burn gaming experience. We're finally giving online gaming events a shot as well. Why not grab your sword and join us for a MHM Friday Night Stream & Meetup event?

Meanwhile over on the blog, FlatFootFox has continued to provide written reviews of a variety of gadgets. His recent Analogue Pocket review has a lot of fun product shots alongside a childhood pile of Game Boys and cartridges. https://main.retro-handhelds.com/blog/rh-reviews-the-analogue-pocket/ The blog also took a brief tangent into the world of DIY light guns with a look at the GUN4IR system. https://main.retro-handhelds.com/blog/a-brief-look-at-the-gun4ir-light-gun/ The new device intake pile has been climbing, so expect some new reviews in the future!

Thor and Stubbs have been killing it lately with the newly rebranded Retro Handhelds podcast. They've been doing a mixture of YouTube livestreams and recorded audio podcasts, highlighting new devices like the Powkiddy RGB10S and the Anbernic RG503. There's also been guests aplenty. Russ from Retro Game Corps recently paid them a visit, as well as Tech Summit, JtotheBell of Fake-08 fame, and YouTuber Izzy Nobre.

Retro Handhelds also just wrapped up its first music jam! Choosh is hard at work collecting all the entries! Hopefully these icy tunes will be able to offer some relief during these toasty summer months!

We thank you all for your continued Patreon support. If for some reason you don't want to manage yet another online service, we've also added support for Discord's Premium Membership option. You get all the same benefits, but payments are managed right inside of Discord. We've also added a $10 tier on both platforms because you are JUST. THAT. AWESOME. We cannot thank you enough for all of the support you've been offering to the community.

Your friends in gaming,
The Retro Handhelds Team
