Another ep reaction, thanks so much this was such a great video to watch with dinner tonight. I love, love, LOVE this episode- as you say, we can now understand Zeke. I love all the different characters beliefs, how they mingle, etc. Grisha's VA knocked it out the park, and the Mr Ksaver backstory never fails to make me cry. Seriously a lot to discuss, and suchhh a hefty topic... I don't agree with Zeke. All he really experienced was sadness, but there is positivity out there too. Seeing Erwin get killed by Zeke, and now Zeke causing this explosion at the end with Levi, Zeke is certainly the cause of a lot of your most shocking AOT moments. Great reaction as always!

There’s a lot I won’t touch on because it’s hard to discus without spoiling anything, but as far as Zeke and your conflictions…yes. I couldn’t say I liked Zeke after this episode, or that I forgave him for the loss of Erwin and the others, but I at least understood him. It helped some to know where he was coming from. But I just couldn’t forgive him for taking such joy in that rock bloodbath where we lost Erwin. And my feelings about Levi matched yours here, too. I’d really grown to love him by the time we reached this point so the ending of this episode had me greatly upset and anxious. Basically I’m saying that all of your opinions and feelings are valid, and even if we don’t agree with them it’s okay to feel what you feel! Don’t worry about depressing comments at the end, that’s what this show does to us—it makes us think and feel. And we wouldn’t be here if we didn’t want to hear your thoughts. Hang in there!!! We’re holding your hand through it all haha. And Happy Valentine’s Day to you!!!

Information available for public disclosure: Titan Research Research concerning the unique power of Subjects of Ymir to become Titans. A field of study since the era of the Eldian Empire, it encompasses not only the biology of Titans themselves, but also the ideologies of Eldians who possess the power and how to deal with them. Though researched extensively over many years, the truth of Titans still remains a mystery.

Thanks for a wonderful reaction. It’s hard, but we don’t come to watch AOT to be happy :(. I think this episode is so important because show us how the hate circle works and never ends.

If you raged out as an Eldian in Marley, they wouldn't execute you, they put you in jail and wait to ship off to Paradis to turn you into a Titan, or perhaps they'd inject you with Zeke's spinal fluid to wait to use you as a Titan bomb, and then they investigate your whole family or just outright them take them to the same fate to keep every other Eldian in fear of what happens when you misbehave, all to serve the interests of the despots and the authoritarian regime.

Vee, I love hearing your opinions. You are super respectful, careful, and tolerant. Don't worry, and don't consider intolerant and disrespectful people. I hope I am being polite and respectful to you and everyone here. If I'm not, please tell me. I will apologize, reflect, and correct my mistakes.

So for episode 17 there’s going to be a new intro and ending song. By far the best of every season in my opinion! I think it’s safe to watch the intro going forward, I’m not sure what everyone think. What do y’all think?

I'm not sure if it was meant for this episode/chapter to make people empathise with Zeke but, he is the one character in AoT that I never felt any compassion for. Like Levi said in the previous episode, he doesn't feel remorse for any of his actions, and I have zero remorse for him.

2024-02-19 11:41:29 This episode is what made Zeke one of my favorite characters. I can’t say I agree with him but the complexity of him as a person and his beliefs is outstanding character writing. Knowing all the terrible things he did because of what he believes to be true to him is a great example of the grey morality in, not only this story, but life in general I love it.

I'm of the opinion that the intros/outros were meant to be watched. The cuts are so quick its hard to really understand what you are seeing until it actually happens.

Christopher

I get your point, but why would you have remorse if you truly believe what you are doing is right and good for the world? Everything he has done has helped create the vision he has to save the world. The fact he has no remorse for anything he has done shows he is 100% committed to his goals, he has never wavered.

Christopher

Agreed. Even the season 3 second intro that I think might be the most spoiler filled, didn't ruin anything for me. It's so hard to see 45 seconds of rapid cuts and piece together a full picture. This upcoming intro I don't think spoils anything, we're in the endgame and all the pieces are laid out.

Christopher

I don't want to discuss Zeke's plan as it can become spoiler-ish, but I am in the camp that believes Zeke's plan is the right one. He is my 2nd favorite character behind Reiner. The complexities of each of them is incredible for a show that has so many characters to focus on with only a fraction of a 19-22 minute episode spent on them. The writing of this manga/anime is incredible and I love that it leaves so many justified and warranted opinions from each side of the fence and a gray area to explore and always finding new schools of thought.

Dorak

S4 2nd OP is safe, it's just like the opening for season 2, there's a LOT of scenes that never appear in the show and are meant as teasers (the Colossal throwing rocks and the Scout fighting him in an open field, Eren transforming to fight Reiner with the Scouts backing him, all the previous Beast titans running together at the end, etc), even if you pause and try to analyze it, it doesn't mean this is something that actually happens

Derder

Very psychopathic way of looking at things. It's one thing if you know what you are doing is morally wrong but also know it's for the greater good, but true moral characters would be devastated, or have their souls basically destroyed, leaving them blank, seemingly uncaring. At the very least, it would have an effect on them. Zeke literally has no guilt, does not think any of the deaths or lives he's ruined matter.
