Information available for public disclosure: Expeditions Beyond the Walls Explorations preformed by the Scout Regiment outside the Walls. The goal of these activities is to explore that unknown exterior realm, as well as ascertain the truth about the Titans. But each time, many soldiers lose their lives. Of particular note, 30% of new recruits die during their first expedition.

i would recommend watching the lost girls OVA too, part 1 and 2. personally i think part 3 is optional but 1 and 2 are one story

YES. YES YES YES. You get it. All of it. You really understood everything and made all the connections and truly GET the Levi/Erwin dynamic and why their bond really is the most beautiful in the show (at least in my opinion). I 100% agree that when Levi was listening to the other three the night before the battle, he was thinking back to that moment with his friends. And if you go back and watch that episode where Levi was telling Eren he had to make a choice and that nobody knows how it will turn out but make the choice that will leave him with no regrets…it gives me chills now because it’s basically an echo of his own experience and what Erwin said to him at the end of this. It’s funny that I’ve seen this probably close to ten times because I love these two characters so much, but it wasn’t until my last viewing that I picked up what you did—that Levi kind of did end up killing Erwin. 😭😭😭 THIS SHOW. IT IS JUST A MASTERPIECE. I’m so so so happy you watched this, like you said it just adds so much to their characters and their bond. I love them so much! As for the other OVA’s, personally I don’t think they’re necessary to watch but they are interesting. Sudden Visitor is a fun and kind of silly closer look at Jean, which is worth it if you like him as a character. And Distress is good for nostalgia, it takes place during their cadet days so it’s fun to go back and watch. But it’s your call if you want to watch any others. No Regrets was the main thing I just knew you needed to see haha. As usual I’m rambling so I’ll go now but thank you again for watching this with us!! It made my week. 😊

Another interesting dialogue besides the one you said about Levi killing him is when Erwin says that when leave your decisions for others, that's when you die. And in the last season, Erwin was hesitant to make the decision to sacrifice himself without seeing the basement, even if he knew that was the best for humanity. That's when Levi said "I'm making the decision, lead the recruits to hell and die."
