THIS EPISODE WAS SUCH AN INFORMATION OVERLOAD AAAAAAAAAA

It was a bit difficult to keep up with a lot of what was happening from the historical aspects to the events occurring and connecting where it all lined up.... but this definitely made it feel like the puzzle is starting to come together.....

Breaking Bad?

Slaizio

Yeah this episode is heavy on information. I recommend rewatch.

Information available for public disclosure: Humanity Outside the Walls Though the humans who live outside the walls look no different from us and speak the same language as we do, their civilization appears far more advanced than ours. However, they view us who live inside the walls as a race of devils that have committed terrible sins.

Well Vi, you have been wanting answers for a while now so here you go. In all seriousness, when I started season 3 I binged it all in one day after not watching the show for a few years and I think I missed the previous episodes end scene of young grisha so this episode hit me like a truck I was so confused and like where did this come from.

MrAlexSan

I'm gonna put what I'm about to say in a comment thread under me so not to spoil those watching this for the first time. I assume everyone watching is currently caught up, but juuuust in case.... Spoilers below for anyone who hasn't seen this episode....

https://i.imgur.com/dSgkMhm.png What's crazy is if you look closer you actually see many of the titans from Season 1 destroying Trost and Shinganshina were Grisha's fellow Restorationists. Most notably the bald titan that ate Eren.

Information overload... and more is yet to come. :) The walls were "built" by King Fritz in 743. The end of this episode happens in 832, ~80 years later. The fall of wall Maria (episode 1) happened in 845, 100 years later. Ymir was the name of the Founding Titan. The "Ymir" you know from the Survey Corps was a nameless, homeless girl, who was taken by a cult and they named her Ymir after the Founding Titan.

Yaaaaaay! I was so happy to see this episode pop up! Like you said it’s A LOT to take in but now you’re at the point where you’re starting to see the genius of the story and how it all ties together. 👏 Also I hope you’re feeling better! Not sure if this was filmed before or after you got sick, but either way I hope it’s passed and wish you and your family a happy holiday. 😊 If anyone hasn’t watch the episode yet, don’t read ahead on this… Your face as you took everything in was so entertaining to watch. So many emotions and the understanding dawns and it’s just awesome. I also laughed really hard at “I thought that was Levi!” 😂. As for the weirdness with the timeline, the only explanation I can come up with (and I may be wrong) is that when the show starts in the year 845, that’s after all of this we’re seeing with Grisha. So it would’ve been 80 years of peace when he was a child, and now it’s a hundred because 20 years have passed and he’s now an adult with a child (Eren). But how crazy is it that his stepmom ate his mother???? That BLEW MY MIND. Such a masterpiece. Loved the reaction, see you next time! 😊

From the perspective of a first-time viewer: When I saw the armband and that the children probably lived in a concentration camp, I was already worried about the world they would show. This episode triggered a revolt in me. This anime has just revealed its central theme: humanity's problem is people. Titans are condemned innocents. They were human, and they will always be human. Brainwashing, radicalism, maintenance of power, deliberate blindness. Eren's father is also part of this rot. He doesn't realize it, but he is a radical who has a speech that tends to perpetuate the cycle of oppressed people becoming oppressors, guided by radicalism and hatred. When asked if he knew how to read what was there, he said no, adding that it was obvious ("the truth"). Only someone radical would say that. First, we saw the powerful and wealthy sacrificing the poor to maintain their lives of luxury and protection after the fall of the walls. It was because of this that Armin's father died (forced to go out). And ironically, Armin dreamed of seeing the outside world. Now this.

“I thought that was Levi!” Geez, V. Racist much? ;P lol, jkjk Plot twist upon plot twist upon plot twist. Told ya, V. Didn't realize the puzzle was this big, huh? Lol And there is whole other season and 2 movies-ish for the final ending. Did you see which Titan the Owl turned into?

The discrepancy of "100 years of peace" in Paradis and the 80 years from Marley could possibly be explained due to the King able to manipulate the Paradis population. The king could install any history they wanted.

Loved the reaction and definitely would recommend re-watching it, although I think you did a great job of absorbing most of what was thrown at you while also dealing with the brutal emotions this episode puts you through. One key point to help - only subjects of Ymir (Eldians) can turn into titans (This is why Marley needs the Eldians to serve as Warriors aka 'vessels' for the 7 titans they control, and they and their families are granted the title of 'Honorary Marleyan' if they become one). If you inject anyone else with the spinal fluid, nothing would happen. And yes, as you mentioned, Eren does have a half-brother Zeke... :p

Vee heard that those of us who watched Breaking Bad had to wait like a year between the last episode and next episode. So in solidarity with our sufferent she's going to hold off on Breaking Bad and start Better Call Saul. /s Also, she's sick, give her a break.

Also another decade or so after that 80 years of eren growing up

Mecha Saiyan

The Eldians in Marley are only being allowed to live in order to serve as titan vessels. They are basically being caged and raised like livestock (similar to how Eren felt inside the walls). The fact that this has been going on for generations means that Eldians are being born into this lifestyle inherently because of their blood. Being punished their whole lives for the actions of their ancestors. I love how this story brings so many real life themes into the plot.

answers are here hype! great reaction Vee!
