My mom and I saw this in theaters for my 15th birthday. People threw up at the blood rave and the blood explosions. It was awesome.

Marvel's first hit. Before this, CBMs were entirely dominated by DC. Marvel had only had weird direct-to-dvd things, bootleg films like the 90s Fantastic Four, and... Howard the Duck. This was the first time Marvel had a hit on their hands, and it was also a huge blow to DC because this was right after Batman & Robin came out. And honestly, of the three first entries between the OG Marvel trilogies (Blade, X-Men, Spider-Man), I find this to be the one that holds up best. X-Men 1 really suffers from the intentional "realism" of the production design, and SM1's dialogue is pretty rough. Blade 1 still holds up very well. Though like those trilogies, the second one is the best.

Highly recommend listening to the original version of the “Blood Rave Song”… Confusion by New Order. Barely the same thing. It’s wild.

You can tell they were having fun making this movie. Why else would they leave all those kicks in! They did it for kicks!

interesting production story about the movie, one of the actors injured his arm while filming and had to be rushed to the ER while in full 3rd degree burn make up rushing him into the ER caused everyone to react because he looked like he had been cooked. Thanks for sharing this should be a fun reaction, I still remember seeing this movie for the first time in theaters, way way back.

If you need some more great Wesley Snipes films, then you need Demolition Man and Rising Sun in your life. Blade is Marvel; and in the MCU, we got a little hint of Blade in the end credits of Eternals. Just his voice off screen. Unknown if they will move forward with Blade in the MCU though. Something involving the actor that did that off-screen voice, I think.

This marvel character movie(though not yet in the MCU) makes me wonder which MCU project you'll be watching next, whether it's a show or the next film. Personally this version of Blade was a bit too different for myself to get interested in because as a teen I was so used to the version from Spider-Man: The Animated Series, plus Wesley Snipes didn't really feel like the right personality type imo. Although I really like him in White Man Can't Jump and To Wong Foo.

Supercool reaction, this is a real nostalgia trip. You’re totally right about the John Wick influence, the second one even follows the formula of having another higher level of ancient vampires (and Donnie Yen is in it). Another thing they have in common is a lead actor who is an actual martial artist, obviously not every actor should have a black belt in Karate but it doesn’t hurt. The vampire action movie was it’s own weird little sub genre for a while with Blade II being the absolute best, it’s as bonkers as this one just in slightly different directions. Another favourite is the Ethan Hawke movie Daybreakers where nearly everyone on earth is a vampire and the blood supply is running out.

Perfect Nails for this movie!
