When I watched the first episode of season 1, I remember thinking: Okay, this Anime is not a zombie-type plot: an immense Titan kicked the wall, made a hole in a very specific way, and disappeared. Strange. In the second episode, that "football player" Titan appeared and made another hole in an inner wall, clearing the way to the ordinary ones. Okay, it's a coordinated attack, for sure. They do what they need to do and disappear. Both of these "Special Titans" destroyed the gates, making only holes. The biggest one could easily destroy the wall and pass through. Game over. The "Football Player" could do the same. Bouth did not. At the time, I had a hunch and a certainty. Maybe they were testing the human defenses to see how weak or strong the humans were. They're thinking beings! After that, we saw Eren as a Titan, the Female Titan (Annie), ordinary Titans attack "Special Titans," a lot of things. Now, Armin's thoughts on the last episode tell me those first Titans are aware of the hidden Titans on the wall. I don't know if they are self-conscious and have self-control at the same level as the new one (the giant beast, which we saw giving orders to the other Titans). But they have some conscious like Eren and Annie, at least. They made holes to avoid revealing what was inside the walls! But why?! Are they all together or are they being controlled by the beast? I don't think the clerics/priests/pastors/"fanatics" (I don't know LOL!) know all the truth. This episode made me think they know something to be passed by. They believe in being guardians of sacred secrets that not even they know. According to the religious guy, Christa "needs to know," that is, they believe their jobs are to reveal to her what they keep secret. The only thing I am convinced of is that ordinary titans are like animals that act on instinct (no evil, no kindness, only instinct), unlike the special ones. This Anime puts a lot of whys in your head! I'm lovin' it! P.S. I'm watching in DUB!

Hi Vkunia, new patron here! I’m really enjoying your reactions to the show. Just want to say on my end here, I think it’s totally fine to watch dub vs sub if it’s what makes you more comfortable to watch, etc. the only thing I may just want to bring to your attention is that during the later seasons (s3 and most especially s4), the English dub does re-write and re-contextualize lines that kinda changes character motivations and relationships from what they are intended to be. I’ve seen reactors in season 4 get confused at certain moments because the English actor said one thing and then the character goes ahead and does something that contrasts what they just said, or some exposition was given but it’s not as straightforward in the English versus the original writing. It’s not the end of the world, but just thought I’d mention it given that the show becomes very specific about its writing especially in the 4th season, so at times the English dub can fail to properly convey the intention of the narrative. Regardless of what you end up sticking with, I can’t wait to see your reactions going forward with the series, especially as it’s coming to an end this November!
