hey guys!! Here’s IT follows!! I sort of knew the concept behind it, a sort of entity that follows you unless you do something to pass it onto someone else (as I mentioned in Ringu) but I loved the style and aesthetic of this movie. I thought it was going to be just like every other modern horror film but it impressed me with its style so much and so hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did:)

I'm surprised you caught on so quickly that they were deliberately blurring the time period - there was late 2010s tech like the makeup mirror phone, against the 80s tv and 60s cars. They did this deliberately to make nothing feel at home.

You should see the Smile movie when it comes out on video :)

I LOVE THIS MOVIE🔥

Time to play V guesses the state this movie was filmed in

I saw this movie for the first time on a whim one weekend when I was in military college. I had no idea what it was about. I was not disappointed. The soundtrack is A++, anxiety in musical form. I also found it hilarious that you kept trying to pin down where in the Northeast it was filmed, when it all takes place in and around Detroit LOL.

LOVED your reaction. Almost exactly the same way I feel about this movie, and for the same reasons. SPOILERS! 1. Halloween comparisons. I use Halloween and Stranger Things S1 when trying to sell this movie to people. Not just the dread, but how the suburb itself is a character of the movie. Like how a shot passes a house, we don't see inside it or go into it, but you KNOW what the carpet and wallpaper looks like, what everyone is wearing when sitting down for a family dinner. Its wild just how well It Follows and Halloween really make a neighborhood into a living, breathing creature instead of just a "set". 2. Details. Small single-shot things, like of course Paul is the kind of kid to own a flask. How you see pictures of her dad before It shows up looking like him at the pool. And when asked, Jay doesn't just say "oh, its dad". No, it hurts her to see her dad like that, and she just goes "I don't wanna say." Yes, the compact does a great job of giving this movie an every-time/any-time kind of feel. 10 years ago? Now? 10 years in the future? Yes, how It wrecked her above-ground pool and you immediately put together the reason why. This movie expects you to pay attention, and doesn't apologize for it. 3. Their panic/calmness. Honestly, some people react to constant trauma by learning to live in it. Which is why I love those lingering/panning shots so much. Whether a shot ends up with a pay-off or no, each time it works to put the viewer more and more in that zone. Like lets say even just an overseas deployment, yeah, you're scared all the time when you first get there. Spend some time there, you know you're gonna get shot at, but you also know you have much the same support structure as she does. You're just there now, in that space, and you deal with it. Its never time to panic until its time to panic. (Which leads me to think Jay and Paul will be just fine. The hand-holding at the end, not just cutsie stuff, but actually actively giving comfort to each other. No panic, just calm. I believe that if you walk up to them at the end of the movie there and tell them someone's following them about 50 feet back, they'd smile and reply, "Yeah, It was 50 feet back for the last half mile or so. We've got It's pace down cold. And we just wanted some fresh air after dinner." Then they'd look at each other, "Lansing tonight? Fort Wayne?", and just keep walking on. The thought that they have each other's back makes me happy.)

This is one of my favorite newer horror movies. The idea of something constantly coming for you, no matter where you are, it's so unsettling.

The entire premise of the film is a metaphor for sexually transmitted diseases. I never saw this film. I've seen plenty of films that address young people and the risks of sex, lol. It wasn't a new idea to me, so I've been waiting for a decent reason to sit and finally watch it. :) Film Theorist on youtube with Mat Pat came up with a reasonable solution to beat the It Follows entity.

i hadn't seen this one and i was happily entertained. I liked a lot of the ideas in it

I wonder if you flew across the country, would the ghost have to walk that entire distance? If so, you could buy a lot of time if you could go back and forth.

Richard Maurer

I love this movie. And you're right V, films like The Conjuring and it's endless sequels rely on cheap jump scares and never get to the level of complexity this film has. And just so you know, of all the reactors I've watched this Halloween season you had the best horror movies on your site, especially this film and Ringu

Richard Maurer

If you flew overseas would it have to swim or walk across the ocean? Either way the only problem I could see with this it would take so long to get to you you might get lulled into a false sense of security.

Smile was similar to this movie and a great movie as well, The Quiet Place, Hereditary, Get Out and Midsommar are also a great watch
