Hey guys!! Here's the original Spider-man (2002) starring Tobey McGuire!! I grew up with this movie and haven't watched it in sooooo long so it was such a treat. Growing up with it along with the amount of memes surrounding it (I'm a bit annoying in the beginning but I PROMISE IT CHILLS OUT SO SORRY ABOUT THAT LOL) makes it that much more enjoyable|

And now that I'm watching it as an adult it gives me a new perspective and do I have some OPINIONS about it... you'll see at the end hehe.
But I do love this movie, and Tobey will always be my favorite Spider-Man ❤

Yeah I'm surprised you don't remember the long intro. It's like one of the best parts of the move honestly cause the Main Titles Theme by Danny Elfman... holy shit. I could listen to it for hours. Dont ever disrespect the intro 😤

Also another thing that was a really cool detail. When Norman unmasked himself to Peter, it actually wasn't a ploy. When Norman talks, he talks calmly with little to no rise. When Green Goblin talks, there's a growl in his voice and he talks loudly. The first thing Norman says is "The Goblin killed them, I had nothing to do with it! Don't, don't let them take me again!" When he says that, in them middle of the sentence, his voice gets incredibly growly and demented. He was Norman, but he snapped into the Goblin mid sentence. So it sucks that Goblin got him killed. I dont think it was too anticlimactic because of that sad tone. It's pretty obvious why Peter denied her and I saw it coming. I love romance too of course, but its because he needs to keep her safe. He mentioned that the people he loves will always be the ones who pay. Same applies with MJ. So he cuts himself off from his heart so she isnt in danger. I know poor MJ, but don't forget Peter too! That must've crushed Peter's soul to do that. But sometimes we do things we think are right, that really break our hearts. Tobey is actually close to the comics as well. Not with his age or powers, but with the story. It's literally like a comic book come to life with the events and how Peter got his powers and everything. I'm pretty surprised that you didn't pick up on the face MJ made at the end. She doesn't for sure know Peter's Spider-Man, but she just kissed the same set of lips she kissed in the rainy alley. So she recognized the kiss. It was familiar to her, which is a super cool detail. Cannot wait for Spider-Man 2! It's probably one of my favorite superhero movies of all time. See you then V! ❤

The wrestler Bonesaw is played by the infamous Macho Man Randy Savage of the WWF before it merged with WCW, making them the now WWE. Besties with Hulk Hogan, like they were an inseparable duo for a long time. And of the catch phrase "Step into a Slim Jim!" fame. His character of the Macho Man literally always sounds like that, lol. "Christmas meat" can be a gift of glazed ham, canned fowl like pheasant, venison sausage/jerky (slightly fancier types of meat, basically) or a box of summer sausage and cheese, charcuterie type. They come in a gift-wrapped baskets with crackers, jams, mustard, maybe small bottles of wine or champaign or liquor. Maybe chocolates or candies. If you like the comic book style of these films; the cuts, the fades, the transitions, the framing, scenes that are literally designed to look exactly like frames of the comic, amazing villain performances. You should watch Dick Tracy 1990.

I can relate with being a romantic and hoping love works out. It was always a little disappointing how toxic all the relationships are in these movies. Peter/Harry, Harry/MJ, and Peter/MJ. MJ is downright awful in Spider-man 2.

I think this was my favorite Spider-Man movie of all the ones I have seen. Though Into The Spiderverse is a close second. This reminds me, have you ever ridden the Spider-Man ride at Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando? It is probably my all time favorite amusement park ride. Also, good luck with your move

I'm usually not a fan of Secret Superhero identities, and I think the "I am Iron Man" moment set that precedent for me. Except for Spider-Man, he's the only character I think actually is better because of it.

Marvel Comics seems to agree with you. They had Spider-Man unmask in the comics version of Civil War, claiming they had a whole bunch of ideas for stories about him with his identity public. I remember maybe two good stories before they magically made everyone forget again :)

V, you were wondering 'why is the robber putting in so much effort for just $3000', but the robber got away with all of 'the Gate' (_All_ the money taken in from ticket sales. Low-balling it at $20 for 700 in attendance, that's $14000.)

Personally I'm not a fan of this Peter characterization. Peter in the classic comics was assertive, aggressive, before Ben's death he was a downright asshole. Which is why it was so important, Ben's death changed Peter's trajectory from villain to hero. Here, he's already super polite from the beginning and is way too shy to be Peter Parker from the comics. Even Holland honestly is too polite to be Peter Parker. Regardless, this movie is still very good. While Tobey isn't really playing comic Peter, he is still playing an interesting, well-developed character. Dafoe is always fun, the direction is absolutely fantastic because Sam Raimi is absolutely fantastic, the score is incredible, and it's paced basically perfectly. While it's not my favorite Peter origin movie (I prefer TASM1 personally, in fact it's my third favorite behind No Way Home and Raimi Spider-Man 2), it's still a great film. And, most importantly, it didn't shy away from looking like a comic book. So many comic book movies dull down the colors and vibrancy and try really hard to look "realistic" and end up just looking bland. Bryan Singer's X-Men films were perhaps the biggest offenders, literally replacing the varied costumes of the comics with all black leather. But this film embraced that style and helped prove that other CBMs don't need to dull down the way they look. They can be vibrant and stylized and colorful.

You seen that test footage of how they originally planned to do the Goblin? With the comic accurate animatronic Goblin head? It would have been so crazy if they’d gone with that.

Great reaction Vee, I'll always enjoy this Spiderman.

I like this spiderman because its the one I grew up with, but my fav spiderman is tom holland. Hes the most comic accurate portrayal and is damn good at it. Garfield is a close 2nd behind Holland, also pretty accurate. Tobey is only chalked up to childhood nostalgia for me, other than that if he were cast today his movies would tank pretty hard and understandably so.

This and its sequel have always felt special to me. It is certainly more campy than the other two series but I thought it worked in this case. Don't know if you recognized the announcer at the wrestling match, but that was Bruce Campbell. He played "Ash" in The Evil Dead. The car from that movie is also what Uncle Ben drives. I believe both Bruce and the car have had cameos in most of Raimi's movies to date.
