The Honest Movie Trailer for this is still my favorite. “Featuring: things your inner eight-year-old will love…” “The dumbest awesome movie ever, or the most awesome dumb movie ever.” “So awesome!” “So dumb!” “But I still can’t wait for the sequel.”

donald johnson

i highly recommend the monsterverse godzilla movies. made by the same studio that made this movie. if you want crazy cgi fun that is.

David Martin

I recommend Minority Report, I Robot, The Martian, Interstellar, the new planet of the apes trilogy, and Inception.

Fun sci-fi action movies are some of my favorite things! How about... TRON (1982) - essentially the original "cyberspace" movie THE LAST STARFIGHTER (1984) - a video game-style riff on Star Wars EXPLORERS (1985) - more of a sci-fi comedy, but has a bit of action FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR (1986) - also light on the action, but has a fun, kid-oriented plot ROBOCOP (1987) - Kind of violent, but mixes action and satire in a unique way DARK CITY (1998) - I'd pick the theatrical version over the director's cut, but opinions vary TITAN A.E. (2000) - Underrated animated sci-fi action film COWBOY BEBOP: THE MOVIE (2001) - (takes place between Eps 22 & 23 of the series, before everything went south) TREASURE PLANET (2002) - Animated sci-fi adaptation of Treasure Island THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY (2005) - Another one that's more of a comedy, but there are some fun (and somewhat silly) action sequences :) TRON: LEGACY (2010) - Sequel to the original "Tron" ATTACK THE BLOCK (2011) - John Boyega and a teen gang vs. aliens in South London ARRIVAL (2016) - Not an action movie, but an excellent sci-fi drama, if you're in the mood for that sort of thing :) Hope that helps!

Interesting hour to post this guess I’ll see dis tomorrow lol

panacamanana

Really? I’ve only ever heard people loving this movie.

panacamanana

The time of posting is actually typical. They usually post it once it finishes it’s upload. So it always is in the early AM, US time.

If you haven't seen it yet, another fun "Robot" Movie is Real Steel.

Some fun Sci-fi films: The World's End - Simon Pegg & Nick Frost Mars Attacks - Tim Burton Attack the Block - starring current Dr Who, Jodie Whittaker But the absolute best and one of my favourites would be Back to the Future, I'm guessing you've probably already seen it, but then I was surprised you hadn't seen Star Wars which is what brought me here in the first place!

Another incredible reaction and review Vee! PR 2?! and the animated series?! I NEED to see you react to Transformers and the new Godzilla/Kong series, sci-fi action is just too much fun and I get so pumped up seeing the creativity of the designers, writers, actors, and cgi studios. They do need some suspension of disbelief though, you destroyed this movies many plot holes and it was hilarious!

Grumples

This is a great list. Definitely check out most, if not all, of these.

David Crabtree

If you are interested in checking out some more fun sci-fi, I highly recommend the 1986 animated classic, Transformers: The Movie.

I highly recommend Galaxy Quest. It is honestly the best Star Trek movie that isn't Star Trek.

Bruce Bromley

One thing that you seemed to miss V was who the director was. It was Guillermo del Toro, who also did Pan's Labyrinth. A nice range I'd say. Another excellent one of his, with Ron Perlman is "Hellboy".

Tiger Chu

Yes i'm still laughing at your oil rig prediction

Bryan Tuck

You seem to have missed the mid-credits scene. :)

PickettsChargingPort

I'm really glad you decided to watch this. It's a guilty pleasure of mine. The second one is much better, imho.

Dioskur

This movie is a guilty pleasure for me. I know its stupid and all, but I still like it. And from observing myself, I know that if I like "stupid" movies, it's mostly about the music. Any action film can entertain me if the music fits the action scenes and this one works well! And then it needs to be fun-stupid, not stupid-stupid. Like using the huge ship like a club, that is just an awesome idea, and thats "fun stupid". Sure everyone knows it wouldn't work but it just good fun. Another movie that has the same vibe is the first Mortal Kombat...

Elysium is one that I enjoy quite a bit, has its faults, but golly do the visuals propel it further than it has any right too.

Niravathu

If you want a movie about an Oil Rig, Deep Water Horizon is a masterpiece

Richard Maurer

This is a not at all guilty pleasure of mine, I love diakaiju (loose translation: giant monster) movies.

vlocke67

awww you didn't comment on the post credit scene again lol... still, loved the reaction!

James M

Watch all the films in the Monsterverse!

Texas Anla'Shok

There actually is series of this, on Netflix. Pacific Rim: The Black.

Connor Ellis

The Neural drift with the Kaiju hive mind does work. Yes it was just the brain but it was still alive and connected to the rest.

Jayson Phillips

U gonna watch part 2? I hope so it's really good too!

Jayson Phillips

Pacific Rim black is animated but sooooo good!!!!!

Darren Withers

You know, funnily enough there’s a…. I was going to say B grade movie, but truely, it’s D grade….. called Atlantic Rim that is a cheap knockoff of Pacific Rim that begins on an oil rig!

LudicDave

Atlantic Rim is an Asylum movie. All movies from that studio truly defy any kind of rating system. It should be rated -50 out of a number so big it's incomprehensible. Though I do appreciate the Pacific Rim creators rising to the challenge with Pacific Rim 2 being the most disappointing sequel since pretty much all sequels.

LudicDave

I love this movie. It's basically anime in the form of a western movie. I wish it had turned into a proper franchise, instead of massively dropping the ball with the sequel. I feel like the people who hate this movie, are the same ones who love Transformers. They don't want a plot about having to sync with your partner and getting lost in memories, they want "big robot smash" and nothing else.

Pirateman

Holy fuck this movie was far worse than I was hoping for. Evangelion it is not. Just really felt terribly put together. I'm guessing the biggest culprit was in editing. As you say - pacing felt odd. But even the dialogue was bad, not just the script, I'm talking about the audio itself, it sounded like bad ADR. Was it how they did it for multiple language dubs? Many things that don't 'really' make sense can be stretched to work; like the escape pods you mentioned not being able to withstand the pressure. That's one I would actually give a pass on, I was actually expecting them to just climb out of the jaeger in their suits at that point in the movie , and was pleasantly surprised they bothered having sealed escape pods (they could be made of magic scifi physics changing stuff). There was just so much worse stuff, unearned moments and nonsense. It really outweighed the cool for me.
