I can make mistakes... we've established that before.

I got some very rapid and very strong reactions to Aden killing Todd.

So, let me know what you think.

Keeping in mind:

1)They don't have a facility which can hold Todd. That has always been one of the themes from the beginning- no throwing the Joker in jail for him to break out next week and kill again. (not that Todd is the Joker)

2) Once Aden upgraded his Entropic Shield, Todd was virtually incapable of harming Aden.

3) Todd is still incredibly powerful and entirely capable of harming or killing one of Aden's bonds or otherwise causing massive damage.

Interestingly, I was going to post a poll today- but it was going to be about what to do with one of Todd's bonds, not what to do with Todd.

I think he should die becouse while not a threat to Aden hes a threat to his bonds. We know tods a petty coward if aden spares him he could come back and kill adens bonds one by one to weaken him so that its a more even playing field

I can't believe nobody mentioned this, but - his name is Todd. He cannot be allowed to live.

My boss of many years at the time I started writing this series was named Todd. Nothing should be read into that....

Just a random thought but if the nanites run on progenitor energy could you maybe rig up a block or drain. Even if slow (since he's no threat) and pretty much contain him

He had to go, there is no point in wasting another 2-3 chapters on trying to reform a spoiled brat plus it’s not a children’s book where everyone lives I hate cockroach characters that should have died to avoid future issues but keep coming back to kill his bonds.

He is a spoiled brat and he has made threats, there is no worse kind of Karen…but at the same time, it’s not really Aden’s style, to just eliminate someone who only might be a specific danger, not actually proven to be a danger to innocent people. If Todd needs to go, he should be hurting an innocent, when he is wasted as a proven threat.

Actions have consequences. For me the prospect of true deaths and consequences adds to the immersion immensely. Knowing that an author won't just "magic" up a solution every time makes the story much more engaging, at least for me.

I suppose for me it really comes down to the fact that he’s been an ass the whole time. While he can’t hurt Aden, Todd has shown he really only gives a shit about himself, and would hurt the girls if it suits him. If there is a way to drain him, releasing his bonds, than go for it, otherwise he fucked around and then found out.

Your not wrong, but it just doesn't feel right. It goes against aren't character and how this went down will actually hurt Aden in the long run and help his enemies.

So, I haven't been following Prism Academy basically at all, only 17 after this poll came up, so take this with a GIANT mountain of salt - the issue might be less killing him, and moreso doing it so fast and without as much response or pushback from anyone about it being a questionable decision? The second Todd wasn't a serious threat, he died, and Aden's bonds didn't really mind how it went down. You said he was a threat to Aden's bonds, which is a legit reason to kill him, and there was no way to restrain him longterm, but...I didn't really see that mentioned? Did Todd actually threaten Aden's bonds in the story earlier and I missed it? Or after he realizes he can't hurt Aden any more? That's extremely possible, like I said, definitely missed most of this story.

I think the problem is that I let Todd play his idiot card too much. One thing you wouldn't know is the background of how it's been set up that they don't really have any type of power suppression in this world (and never will) so keeping even weaker supers captive is problematic at best, and Todd may be stupid, but he isn't weak.

If I thought Todd was redeemable, or that he could join the good side, then yes, save him and have good PR. That said, Todd has been all about himself and nothing but a jealous rich kid type of person since he got his powers. I don’t think there’s anything Aden can do or say that will stop the jealously that Todd is feeling and him playing second fiddle and thinking Aden took his chance to be a prism away will only increase that jealousy further. Which will lead him to taking in the shadow to enhance himself and lead him to believing the best solution is to harm Aden by going after his bonds. It’s best to just end Todd now even if it harms him politically short term.

Further, I think killing Todd gave Aden the will to do what needs to be done in the heat of the moment instead of giving endless 2nd chances that backfire on him eventually.
