Weekly Devlog: 1 - 7 January 2024 (Patreon)

Hello Patrons and welcome to the first devlog for 2024 💖

This year, July, will mark two years of the game's development which is wild since it feels like only yesterday I started developing Crown of Exile. I'm really excited to continue with the game and I hope that 2024 proves to be a lot more fruitful for updates and development.

This first week of January was used to complete the December side stories and also deal with basic admin stuff with the public release. I've also decided to release Crowning Glory to the public since it'll be a while before I can work on it without putting the main game on the back-burner.

I've already completed Chapter 9's outline and so I hope that I'll be able to finish it in a shorter time than Chapter 8 because like the previous transition type chapters, Chapter 9 is setting up everything before Part 4 begins. A lot of the chapter deals with the family drama and in this chapter, Salyra's final secret will be revealed that will make or break things for most players, especially for those romancing Irus.

You'll also get to spend time with Rana and Zikar, meet your new cousin and spend some time with your companions. Overall, it's not a very branching chapter so I'm feeling better about it than I felt about Chapter 8.

Unfortunately, Chapter 9 ends with you making an important decision which is where the behemoth Chapter 10 will likely destroy my sanity 😅 You will have to decide if you're going to accompany Irus and Anu to visit the Nomad Tribes OR accompany Oren and Elora to Vinia to deal with the threat of the Blood Guard presence in Hadi.

Essentially this means that Chapter 10 will have the same beginning, different middles and then it'll converge to the same conclusion (with varying results) which will impact the epilogue depending on your success.

That said, we're still on Chapter 9 for now and I'm happy to say that work on the chapter will start tomorrow (after my IRL job which also starts tomorrow).

Because it's unlikely that I'll have a full chapter for you to play, I'll be doing another batch of NSFW/SFW side stories for the month so look out for the polls 😉
